The Roof Systems Design Release Engineer (DRE) is responsible for the engineering, design, development, validation, timing and production release of power folding fabric top systems (power top). The Engineer will have end to end ownership of their components and ensuring they meet vehicle functional objectives. Responsibilities also include: component design, development, and packaging; Design Verification Plan & Report (DVPR) testing; change management; bill of material maintenance; prototype and production build support; issues management; CAD model management in Teamcenter; weight reduction, cost reduction and other efficiency improvement initiatives; and communicating technical product status to management. Additionally, supporting vehicle assembly plants for any product technical issues, support service teams for any field warranty issues and help in root cause analysis of the failures.

Basic Qualifications:




  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related degree field
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in sun roof systems or similar mechanisms
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to work autonomously, excellent communication skills, positive attitude, willingness to learn, flexibility, team-player, and attention to detail
  • Mechatronic component design and release experience
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Proficiency in advanced CAD software such as NX, CATIA or SolidWorks
  • Experience in power top, convertible top or sunroof components
