Job Summary

The Human Resource Administrator will assist and support the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring, onboarding and offboarding of employees, employee support and development, policy updates and distribution, HR communication, performance management, facilitating employees' leave and accommodation requests, and enforcing company policies and practices.

As with any position, additional expectations exist. Some of these include, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies as outlined by the Employee Handbook, communicating regularly with assigned supervisor(s), staying focused on the assigned tasks, and completing other tasks as assigned.


Responsibilities

  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems
  • Able to coordinate with employees in multiple locations and time zones
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, communications, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development
  • Facilitates the corporate training initiatives for managers. Constructs and facilitate presentations
  • Supports onboarding and offboarding processes. Handles Orientation, I-9s, employee set up, and employee support
  • Supports internal investigations, employee disciplinary actions, counselling, and terminations.
  • Ensures adequate documentation is collected, reviewed, and filed
  • Facilitates leave of absences, calculates benefit premiums, ensures compliance, and supports employees
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies, handbook, and practices to maintain compliance
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, and employee data. Research for new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed
  • Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database
  • Functions as HRIS SME performing continuous training to be aware of changes and updates to the HR system and inform the HR team accordingly


Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma; and two (2) years' work experience in Human Resources role
  • 3+ years' experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Suite applications
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong research abilities to stay familiar with state and federal regulations as well as labor laws
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related state and federal laws and regulations
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong professionalism and ethical standards
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skill set
  • Experience supporting remote staff in multiple states
  • Experience with state, especially California and federal labor laws/regulations
  • If applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required if employment with VSolvit is offered


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management or Human Resources
  • Professional HR certification
  • 1+ years' experience training employees and managers
  • Experience overseeing and managing HRIS implementation
  • Experience working with the military and/or government


Salary:
$28.00 - $32.00/hr

Location: Hybrid/Remote, Chesapeake, VA, and/or in Huntsville, AL areas
