General Description of the Job Class

Support enterprise-wide data analytics, labor and productivity, and performance management services for Duke Pharmacy across the Duke Health system. This position focuses on advanced analytics, data engineering, and performance improvement to enhance clinical operations, patient safety, and financial performance.

The role is responsible for the development, implementation, and dissemination of pharmacy financial, labor, productivity, and quality data; supporting budgeting, benchmarking, productivity reporting, and knowledge sharing to enable data-driven decision-making by pharmacy and health system leaders.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Operational and Analytic Support



  • Lead development, validation, and maintenance of standardized analytics supporting Pharmacy KPIs.
  • Design and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor performance trends and outcomes.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for clinical and operational leaders.


Project Management & Operational Support



  • Provide technical project management support for operational and strategic initiatives within Pharmacy.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration among the pharmacy team, physicians, nursing, operations, analytics, and leadership.
  • Develop project plans and outcome measures aligned with health system goals.


Performance Improvement



  • Serve as a technical and analytical lead for multidisciplinary performance improvement initiatives.
  • Apply performance improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA) to identify inefficiencies and drive sustainable change.
  • Monitor impact of interventions and recommend course corrections based on data trends.


System Alignment



  • Align Pharmacy performance initiatives with broader health system goals and hospital KPIs.
  • Serve as a key liaison between Pharmacy leadership and system analytics and improvement resources.


Financial and Operation Efficiency



  • Oversee the development and management of productivity budgeting and reporting systems.
  • Partner with all pharmacy divisions to ensure they are operating within allocated staffing budgets while optimizing resource utilization to achieve enterprise-wide financial goals.



Required Qualifications at this Level

Education



  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering or a related field.
  • Master's degree highly desired.


Experience



  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience.
  • Equivalency Note: Experience can be supplemented with a Master's degree (equivalent to two years of experience) or with 2 years of Duke ME I experience.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Experience with data engineering or SQL.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and work collaboratively with clinical and operational stakeholders.
