The Data Processing Unit (DPU) team brings togetherstate-of-the-artsoftware and hardwareexpertiseto create a highly programmable and high-performance ASIC with the capability to efficiently handle large data streams.Thanks to its integrated design, this solution empowers teams tooperatewith increased agility and deliver significantly superior performance compared to CPU-based alternatives.

We are looking for a Principal Manager- Core Networking, in this role you will partner closely with other highly experienced and deeply technical engineers, managers, senior leaders to plan and deliver the DPU's integration with the broader Azure ecosystem and drive the evolution of the system forward. You will also provide guidance and management for less-experienced team members, fostering growth while ensuring alignment with the broader Azure ecosystem and technical strategies while enabling the operationalization of the DPU's networking workflows.



Responsibilities
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholdersand DPU development teamtoexecute and deliverMicrosoftDPU's Core networkingfor allapplicableAzure use cases
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholdersand DPU architectsto definefeaturesrequiredfor next generationsolution
  • Technical leadership in DPU networking, provisioning, and Azure platform integration
  • Operational ownership of cloudscale networking workflows for specialized hardware (DPUs)
  • Coach and mentor engineers, provide technical guidance and performance feedback, and foster a culture of ownership, high standards, and continuous learning.
  • Lead the design and delivery of world-class experiences for a new cloud infrastructure, with emphasis on scale, reliability, and performance.
  • Drive Engineering Excellence:
    • Establish best practices for code quality, performance, and security.
    • Lead design reviews and influence cross-team technical decisions.
    • Embrace AI-first development lifecycle


Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Other Qualifications

  • Abilityto meet Microsoft,customerand/or government security screening requirements arerequiredfor this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will berequiredto pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience managing high performing team of engineers
  • 4+yearsleading engineering developmentteams
  • 4+years' experienceworking onnetworkingprojects, such assmart NIC or networking switch/router
  • Experience operationalizingworkflows aroundnetworkingat scalein large datacenter deployments
  • Deep understanding ofLayer2-4 networking athost networking and switch/routersoftware stack
  • Provenability to collaborate withothertechnical experts on complex, mission-critical initiatives, balancing strategic direction with respecttodeep technicalexpertise.

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
