Job Title: Staff Attorney - Immigrant Youth Advocacy

BBSI has partnered with a highly respected nonprofit legal organization that has spent nearly 50 years providing free legal services to individuals and families who need it most.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Staff Attorney to advocate for immigrant youth and their caregivers. This unique role works directly with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) to provide legal education, advocacy, and representation to undocumented children within school communities.

This is an opportunity for an attorney who is committed to expanding access to justice and supporting vulnerable youth and families through community-based legal services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a regular presence at designated LAUSD school campuses
  • Educate school communities about available legal services and resources
  • Provide legal rights presentations and workshops for caregivers and families
  • Represent caregivers in Probate Guardianship matters
  • Advocate for undocumented minors seeking Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) and other humanitarian relief
  • Provide representation in matters including removal proceedings, asylum, adjustment of status, U-visas, and T-visas
  • Conduct client intake, prepare cases, and coordinate placement with pro bono counsel
  • Collaborate with volunteers, law clerks, and community partners

Qualifications

  • Active member of the California State Bar in good standing (required)
  • Fluency in written and spoken Spanish (required)
  • Experience in immigration law or nonprofit legal services preferred
  • Experience working with children, families, or school communities strongly desired
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
