Short Description

  • Collaborates with the Hospital Pharmacy Department to develop, improve and maintain IT programs that affects Pharmacy. Assists in achieving the goals of the Department of Hospital Pharmacy and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
  • Evaluates and tests system code changes relative to the changes in the state of pharmacy practice.
  • Recommends upgrades and suggested changes in computer equipment and software for the Pharmacy Department.
  • Responds to pharmacy departmental requests for statistical reports and software evaluation.
  • Coordinates all aspects of Application/upgrade planning, design, development, testing, communication and maintenance of existing or new functionality of the Pharmacy system
  • Assures system integrity of the Pharmacy Application.
  • Maintains issue management (logging of points).
  • Maintains change control documents for Pharmacy Application.
  • Applies and makes recommendations for script testing of Pharmacy Application.
  • Maintains the formulary
  • Supports Medication dispensing machines issues
  • Participates in committees as assigned by the Department
  • Directly responsible for training of all pharmacists on the pharmacy information system.
  • Works collaboratively with IT infrastructure, Networking, Server and Data exchange teams to coordinate technical activities related to the Pharmacy application
  • Develop and maintain support documentation, service desk routing, and knowledge base entries in appropriate form
  • Demonstrates the ability to do workflow analysis and use appropriate tools to document workflow and processes
  • Develop and enhance effective/strategic business solutions through research and analysis of data and business processes.
  • Demonstrate analytical skills and understanding of client business processes and functional requirements.
  • Work with key internal and external staff to recommend efficient, cost effective solutions that support client business processes and functional requirements.
  • Demonstrate ability to Represent IT in Pharmacy technology related meetings.
    Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrate advanced skills to identify problem processes, applications and troubleshoot.
  • Create and maintain test scripts in support of new installations, projects, and/or system
    updates
  • Assist with the administrative, technical, and customer-facing duties surrounding the
    successful project implementation of system updates and changes
  • Understand pharmacy end-user workflow
  • Serve as a liaison between end users, subject matter experts and technical support
  • Demonstrate self-motivation and works independently to maintain application stability and enhance clients experience
  • Perform on-call duties as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Beacon Preferred:

  • Ability to collaborate with oncology end users to analyze workflows, identify risks and develop solutions to optimize functionality
  • Strong knowledge of clinical oncology care necessary to build beacon treatment, supportive and research protocols.
  • Comprehensive understanding of system build and knowledge of a wide range of functionality that supports oncology patients through the trajectory of cancer care. This includes diagnosis, staging, tumor board, navigation, treatment, supportive care and survivorship.
  • Working knowledge of facility structure, department and pharmacy build.
  • Experience in Epic Ambulatory and Willow preferred.
  • Experience with oncology-based 3rd party systems preferred.

Experience Required

Epic Certification in Willow or in-process of Obtaining Epic certification is preferred.

Clinical/Medical/Pharm certification or degree preferred.


Education Requirements

Healthcare IT experience required or minimum 5 years hospital-based IT experience, along with enrollment in a higher education program.

Bachelor's of Science in PharmD degree preferred.


License/Certification Requirements

Minimum 5 years hospital based IT experience required or Minimum 5 years in the Health Care field in the area of the position offered.

Experience in healthcare information technology with solid knowledge base of Epic backend (Cache).

Experience in Current Windows 20XX Server and server-side Printing, Citrix Server, relational databases, programming and file structure creation and transfer preferred

Hourly Rate Min $70
Hourly Rate Max $115
