We are searching for an experienced Portuguese language
Consultant to assist with copyediting in Portuguese and translation (English to
Portuguese and Portuguese to English).
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The Data for Implementation (Data.FI) project, within the
Information Systems portfolio of Palladium Group, is a cooperative agreement
funded by the U.S. State Department through PEPFAR. It is implemented by
Palladium and supported by expert global and local resource partners.
Data.FI is a global project that helps countries strengthen
routine health information systems to optimize efficiencies in the health
sector, track and rapidly respond to the HIV epidemic and emerging health
threats, and improve client care through integrated, and flexible digital
health solutions, data analytics, and institutionalized data use practices.
The project is seeking a short-term Portuguese language
consultant to assist with the successful completion of deliverables related to the
Mozambique buy-in, as well as potential other countries if an pending bid is
successfully awarded to Palladium.
The consultant will:
Translate a variety of documents including technical
reports, briefs, assessment tools, surveys, marketing and promotional
materials, website content, and other project related documents, working across
the Microsoft Office Suite. Specifically, they will:
Provide translation support (English into Portuguese) for the Information Systems and Digital Solutions portfolio at Palladium, including but not limited to the Data.FI Project and Business Development (BD) publications. Translation can include reports, briefs, and PowerPoints in compliance with donor branding guidelines and organizational policies.
Translate text for infographics, charts, maps, and other visual content in succinct, compelling, user-friendly headers and text for non-technical and technical audiences.
Ensure consistency and quality of the translated Portuguese text (in terms of grammar, punctuation, clarity, capitalization, etc.), following Data.FI and client style guides. This includes copyediting and editing for substantive quality.
Assist publications review (where original was in Portuguese) to amplify impact, consistent with client branding and marking requirements.
Period of Performance
This consultancy is for a maximum of 45 days between April 6, 2026, and September
30, 2026. There is a possibility of an extension to this period of performance,
subject to Palladium needs and client requirements, as well as pending award
status.

Zero-hour consultant contract. Hourly compensation to be
negotiated.

Required Qualifications:

Key competencies and professional expertise required
American Translators Association (ATA) certification is required
Bachelor's degree required or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired
Proven ability to translate any subject particularly related to data science, digital health, and terms frequently used in international development
Minimum five years of translation experience (English into Portuguese)
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Detail-oriented and able to manage priorities and maintain schedules under tight deadlines
Highly self-motivated and proven ability to work independently and skilled at handling multiple tasks
Fluency in both English and Portuguese languages required
Ability to write in the destination language with correct spelling and capitalization, grammatically, and elegantly, reflecting the original content faithfully while expressing content normatively in the destination language

Preferred qualifications:
Previous experience working on USG-funded programs in the global health space
Willingness to work with minimal oversight and be extremely responsive to emails and requests
Familiarity with digital health and global health programs, including some technical competencies or previous work experience
