About the Opportunity:

As an Engineering Technician II, you'll be out in the field daily, monitoring construction activity on major capital projects across Washington County. You'll serve as the County's eyes and ears on-site - ensuring work meets required standards, resolving field issues, and escalating concerns when needed. You'll build relationships with contractors and consultants while playing a vital role in delivering high-quality public infrastructure.

Ideal Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

• Conducting field inspections of capital infrastructure construction projects (sewer, stormwater, roadway, and more)
• Monitoring ongoing work and ensuring it meets minimum standards, regulations, and approved plans
• Preparing clear and detailed documentation including inspection daily reports
• Reviewing construction documents and specifications to identify compliance and constructability issues
• Supporting design reviews by providing real-world constructability insights
• Responding to field issues and determining the steps to achieve a successful resolution
• Have a strong understanding of construction methods, quality, and standards

Minimum Qualifications

• Two (2) years of responsible experience in road construction, road construction inspection, construction management, civil engineering, traffic engineering, or surveying, and work experience in an office or field setting; OR
• An Associate's Degree in civil engineering or related field.

Additional Requirments

• A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.
