The Tax Manager is responsible for the compilation, analysis and reporting of financial data to ensure accurate statutory compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.

This position will require the candidate to report and work from the office on a regular basis. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute radius from Temple, TX.

What you'll do as a Tax Manager:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all Distribution Centers relating to the compilation and reporting to taxing authorities.
  • Maintain the accuracy of information and qualification status.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all state and local governmental jurisdictions. This responsibility requires careful review and interpretation of statutory requirements and accurate compliance with the statues to ensure that McLane and its subsidiaries have the proper authority to conduct business in the various state and local jurisdictions.
  • Perform account reconciliations as required for various tax payable accounts.
  • Review state statutes for changes that affect the business operation. Determine and perform the required changes. Inform and educate stakeholders as required.
  • Support accounting and tax with quarterly/annual reporting as requested.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications you'll bring as a Tax Manager:

  • Have a bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting or Finance, have a CPA license or is working towards a CPA certification.
  • Have strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and other MS applications.
  • Have more than 5 years of tax-related experience.
  • Have demonstrated ability to ensure accurate, timely, and consistent tax compliance.
  • Have demonstrated ability to implement quality review procedures.
  • Have excellent managerial, interpersonal, time management, and project management skills.
  • Have strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.
