Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the Medical Center to support infection prevention and control standards. This role performs a variety of environmental services duties including cleaning, disinfecting, waste removal, and equipment handling to minimize the spread of disease. This position does not involve direct patient care.

Essential Functions

  • Perform routine and specialized cleaning duties in accordance with organizational standards and infection control protocols.
  • Clean, disinfect, and service assigned patient and non-patient areas using approved procedures and schedules.
  • Safely collect, handle, and dispose of regulated and non-regulated waste streams.
  • Move furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed to support departmental operations and thorough cleaning.
  • Operate environmental services equipment including floor machines, buffers, and vacuums.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards at all times to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Follow all safety guidelines related to chemical usage and equipment handling.
  • Participate in a minimum of eight department or unit meetings annually.

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe handling procedures
  • Familiarity with environmental services equipment (e.g., vacuums, floor buffers)

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
