SPA has a near term need for a Systems Engineer to support the Office of the Assistant Capability Program Executive, Engineering and Architecture. The qualified candidate will be a highly motivated and talented entry-level Systems Engineer supporting a Digital Engineering transformation. The candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of enterprise architecture and assist in applying modern systems engineering practices to solve complex challenges. This role will involve being on Redstone Arsenal daily and working with a team of experienced engineers to advance the Army's capabilities through innovative and structured engineering solutions.


Responsibilities

The responsibilities involve implementing and promoting Digital Engineering practices across the enterprise while utilizing Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) best practices and software tools, such as Cameo Enterprise Architect, to contribute to the CPE Aviation Enterprise Architecture model. Additional duties include assisting in the development and application of Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) principles by creating and validating system models to ensure they meet standards for interoperability and scalability. The role also includes identifying and developing use cases for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation to streamline repetitive tasks and improve efficiency, such as creating tools for code generation and model validation. Performing modeling, simulation, and analysis of complex systems using tools like MATLAB, Simulink, and SolidWorks forms another key aspect, along with ensuring collaboration by working within an Agile framework and leveraging project management tools like Jira and Confluence to manage tasks and communicate effectively with the team.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field by the start date
  • Experience with engineering software such as MATLAB, Simulink, and SolidWorks/Solid Edge
  • Basic understanding of programming concepts (Python, Arduino IDE)
  • Strong academic record with a demonstrated ability to learn complex technical subjects
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship or work experience in a Department of Defense (DoD) environment
  • Specific experience contributing to an enterprise architecture model using MBSE tools like Cameo Enterprise Architect
  • Familiarity with Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) principles and their application in a systems engineering context
  • Experience in developing AI use cases or automation scripts to improve engineering workflows
  • DAU Certifications in Digital Engineering, MBSE, or AI Foundations
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
