Position Overview
The Kansas Public Radio (KPR) Development Assistant helps with fundraising, outreach and programming. Duties include assisting with corporate sponsorships, social media work, and assisting with programming and events. Reports to the KPR Director, and receives tasks and direction from development and programming staff.

Job Description
65% - Assists Development Department with corporate sponsorships, marketing, campaigns and events. This includes drafting contracts, managing client communications for trade and smaller contracts, and some solicitations. Solicits food donors for membership drives. Takes on additional corporate sponsorship tasks when primary account executive is away from the office. Assists with campaigns and events by running event-related errands, event set-up, managing outreach table, taking donations over the phone during campaigns and working on-air shifts. Manages and generates social media content, in collaboration with development staff.

25% - Assists with local music programming and social media, helping to book on-air musical guests, plan live events, and create and post social media content related to programming.

5% - Serves as a mentor to interns and student workers. Assists with orientation, assigning tasks and training.

5% - Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements
Ability to work some evenings and weekends.

Required Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree and one (1) year experience in marketing, public media, programming or non-profit work OR high school diploma and five (5) years of experience in marketing, public media, programming or non-profit work.
  2. Strong organizational skills, as evidenced by previous experience.
  3. Strong networking and relationship-building skills, as evidenced by previous experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Previous public broadcasting experience, including assisting with programming, fundraising campaigns and events.
  2. Previous experience working with corporate sponsors and/or donors.
  3. Experience as a musician, or experience working with musicians and bands.
