Phonology at USC approaches phonological theory as an integrated branch of the broader field of cognitive science. Our phonology curriculum incorporates intersections with phonetics, morphology, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, diachrony, and broader cognitive science in core theoretical phonology courses. We are committed to multimodal methodological practices-computational, experimental, fieldwork-in training our students. We invite applicants whose research and teaching foci align with this multidisciplinary, cognitive science-rooted approach.
