About us

National Grid is currently seeking experienced warehouse specialist drivers who are forklift certified (through module 4 - industrial equipment exceeding 15k in capacity) and possess a CDL A for our new warehouse in Patchogue.

Key Accountabilities
  • Under the direction of the Warehouse Management, Senior Working Lead, Working Lead and Senior Warehouse Specialist/Driver, this position has the following responsibilities:
  • Perform all associated duties with material handling; loading/unloading, receiving, storing, issuing, delivery, inventorying, and cycle counting of gas transmission and distribution material, tools, and equipment.
  • Preparing forms, records, and reports associated with this work.
  • Being thoroughly familiar with warehouse office procedures.
  • Monitoring and maintaining suitable warehouse inventory levels.
  • Assist in management of low stock materials.
  • Assist in the management of material returns.
  • Assist in the disposition process of obsolete materials (scrapping, Investment Recovery, etc.).
  • Utilizing standard technology provided by department to assist with the electronic processing and physical handling of materials and material orders and participating in coordination and inventory reconciliations.
  • Keeping the warehouse and pipe yard in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Consults with internal/external customers regarding special projects and/or anticipated material needs.
  • Being responsible for delivery/pickup of materials to/from designated locations (to include jobsite deliveries).
  • Provide pipe yard support as required to include fueling of equipment.
  • Performing clerical duties as required.
  • Perform free bin duties as required.
  • Manage Long Island warehouse logistic support for Greenpoint warehouse transfers/deliveries.
  • Manage Greenpoint warehouse logistic support for Long Island warehouse transfers/deliveries.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal and external customers, co-workers, and supervisors with teamwork, trust, continuous improvement, and personal development.
  • Ensure the warehouse is compliant with all Company, Local, County, State, and Federal regulations.
  • Being thoroughly familiar with materials, tools, and equipment and with their location and use.
  • Comply with all National Grid health and safety related programs.
  • Perform QA/QC audits.
  • Perform monthly housekeeping audits.
  • Operate a Forklift.
  • Operate a truck mounted forklift as required.
  • Operate truck mounted crane as required.
  • Operating a tractor trailer/straight truck/pickup and making minor adjustments or repairs when necessary. Shall be responsible for economical and safe loading/unloading of the vehicle and shall assist in loading/unloading.
  • Being familiar with motor vehicle traffic laws; Federal, State, and Local.
  • Performing similar or less skilled work as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years' warehouse experience.
  • Must be able to lift materials up to 60lbs, without assistance.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and safely operate industrial equipment at a height of 25ft.
  • Valid US Driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be Forklift certified through module 4 (industrial equipment exceeding 15k in capacity).
  • Must possess a CDL A license (no restrictions), with 36 months of driving experience.
  • Must be able to pass a physical ability test.
  • Must be able to pass the Stock handler Placement Test (utilized for all internal/external new hire considerations)

Pay Rate: $ 31.51 per hour

As such, the Company's testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.

Many of the terms and conditions of employment for this position are defined by a collective bargaining agreement that the Company has with a local union. Newly hired employees are bound by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement as well as other agreements between the Company and the local union.
