Job Summary

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is currently seeking an Executive Director of Programs to join our team!
This individual will be required to plan, monitor, and manage internal programs from initiation through completion. Lead or coordinate programs, resourcing, staffing, progress reporting, troubleshooting and indirect people management. Monitor performance and recommend schedule changes, cost adjustments or resource additions.

  • Is accountable for the performance and results of a major part of the organization (organization function or significant operational segment within a business unit, or an enterprise-wide organization sub-function)
  • Develops and executes strategy to achieve key business objectives
  • Decisions are guided by company and functional strategy and objectives


Essential Functions

  • Has P&L responsibilities for specific programs.
  • Establishes and implements program management strategies to ensure programs adhere to high quality standards and achieve business objectives.
  • Oversees corporate programs that meet the needs of the organization or its employees or customers.
  • Develops and implements program processes and policies and works with other department leaders to define, prioritize, and develop projects and programs.
  • Ensures that activities are in compliance with organizational policies and any relevant external regulations.
  • Accountable for all aspects of corporate programs, including planning, budgeting, staffing, and deliverables.
  • Presents programs status updates to the executive leadership team and other stakeholders.
  • Leads and directs the work of other employees and has responsibility for personnel actions related to hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions with concurrence from HR & General Managers.


Required Qualifications

  • Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 12-15 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
  • Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree
  • Discipline/Major: Business degree preferred
  • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Ability to develop and mentor others. Management skills. Leadership skills. Oral and written communication skills. Ability to build collaborative relationships. Detail oriented. Ability to meet deadlines. Program management skills.


Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.


Travel Requirements

25-50% travel likely.
