We are currently hiring for:

Job Title: Refrigeration/Utilities Supervisor

Job Summary: Refrigeration/Utilities Superintendent is responsible for the overall day to day HVAC/Refrigeration and mechanical systems at the operations facility. Strong refrigeration knowledge required in order to troubleshoot, analyze and approve necessary activities. Full oversight to ensure efficient plant operations including but not limited to manufacturing, utility services, ammonia refrigeration, boilers, compressed air, electrical services, waste water, wells, water treatment, and building maintenance.

Compensation Details: Starting at $97,500 to $135,000 depending on experience.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Overall responsibility for day to day activities in the following areas:

    • Water Treatment
    • Water Distribution
    • Boilers
    • Wells
    • Air System
    • Electrical System
    • Ammonia/Refrigeration
    • Ice Systems


  • Provide recommendations and direction for all requests for refrigeration/utilities activities.
  • Manage vendor relationships.
  • Obtain and review quotes, services and labor for projects.
  • Develop and manage department budgets.
  • Support and develop energy conservation measures.
  • Ensure all health and safety requirements are established and followed by on site staff and subcontractors.
  • Delegate work to supervisor and team members as needed.
  • Ensure all elements of both regulated and non-regulated programs are followed per the technical safety requirements ensuring compliance with State, Local, Federal and WLF Standards.
  • Develop and assist in updating all Process Safety Management Information required by the program.
  • Ensure that schedules are in place for all Utilities department team members to maintain the department for optimal facility operation.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance (PM) schedules to maintain all systems in all of the utilities departments.
  • Track and report on all utilities on a weekly basis.
  • Works with and communicates with managers on issues which arise that could adversely impact the operational performance of the facility.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent is preferred.
  • Must be able to pass GCAP training in refrigeration, boilers and PSM.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment and knowledge of utilities, refrigeration, facilities and production equipment maintenance.
  • Must be able to become State/DNR certified in potable water treatment and water distribution within a reasonable amount of time after starting in the role.
  • Direct experience with maintenance planning and/or supervision preferred.
  • Must have a strong knowledge and experience with Ammonia Refrigeration.
  • Knowledge of steam boiler operation and maintenance, including boiler water treatment is needed.
  • Knowledge of wastewater pretreatment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of cooling tower maintenance and water treatment is needed.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule. Including Days, Nights, weekdays and weekends. For training of off shift employees, for equipment shut downs, and for involvement in unplanned events.
  • Must live within close proximity of the Plant. 20-25 minute radius is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with or ability to learn Google platform.
  • Strong technical and leadership skills.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop others.
  • Ability to adjust quickly to changing demands.
  • Must be able to work with USDA, QA personnel, Production personnel and follow all food safety guidelines and HACCP requirements.
  • Knowledge of timekeeping systems is a benefit.
  • Must be able to problem solve.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Coaching and performance management experience a plus.
  • Candidates must successfully pass post-offer/pre-employment drug and background screen.
