Description

The Cyber Security Intern partners with Information Systems, Cyber Security, and business stakeholders to support efforts that protect the organization's systems, data, and users from cyber threats. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, the intern will gain hands-on exposure to multiple cybersecurity domains while supporting day-to-day security operations, risk awareness initiatives, and documentation of controls and procedures.

This role provides a broad, enterprise-level view of cybersecurity, balancing technical, operational, and governance perspectives. The intern will develop foundational IT and cybersecurity skills through structured learning, real-world activities, and a capstone project aligned to departmental priorities.

This internship serves as a key earlycareer talent pipeline for the company's Launch Graduate Program. Interns gain meaningful exposure, mentorship, and realworld experience that positions them for strong consideration for fulltime opportunities within the organization following graduation.

Our Cyber Security Intern:

Program Structure

This role is part of a 10week, structured learning experience that provides handson exposure to enterprise IT and cybersecurity workflows and culminates in a capstone project delivered to IT and Senior Leadership.

Program Goals



  • Build foundational technical competencies across core IT and cybersecurity domains
  • Strengthen analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and documentation skills
  • Gain exposure to enterprise security tools, workflows, and best practices
  • Develop professional communication and collaboration skills through mentorship
  • Deliver a final project that adds measurable value to the organization


Core Cybersecurity Exposure Areas

Under supervision and mentorship, the intern will gain exposure across multiple cybersecurity domains, including:



  • Technical Risk Management & Compliance
  • Identity & Access Management (IAM)
  • Incident Response & Security Operations
  • Data Security & Information Protection
  • Emerging Technologies in Cybersecurity, including AIenabled security capabilities


Key Responsibilities

Technical Risk & Compliance



  • Assist with technical risk assessments, control reviews, and evidence collection
  • Support mapping of technical controls to cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS, ISO)
  • Help document policies, standards, procedures, and audit-related artifacts
  • Develop summaries or documentation that translate technical risks into business context


Identity & Access Management (IAM)



  • Support identity lifecycle processes, including provisioning, modification, and deprovisioning
  • Assist with user access reviews and leastprivilege initiatives
  • Gain exposure to authentication, authorization, and identity governance concepts
  • Observe how IAM controls support security, compliance, and business operations


Incident Response & Security Operations



  • Assist with security monitoring activities and alert documentation
  • Support incident triage, investigation documentation, and escalation processes
  • Participate in incident response exercises or tabletop scenarios
  • Contribute to postincident reviews and lessonslearned documentation


Data Security & Information Protection



  • Learn data classification, handling, and protection requirements
  • Assist with reviews of data access and protection controls
  • Support documentation related to information protection or data loss prevention practices
  • Develop awareness of privacy, regulatory, and business impacts of data security


AI and Emerging Technologies in Cybersecurity



  • Gain foundational awareness of how AI and automation are used in cybersecurity
  • Observe AIassisted tools used for threat detection, monitoring, and analysis
  • Learn about security, privacy, and governance considerations related to AI technologies
  • Support documentation or analysis related to emerging cyber risks associated with AI


Education and Experience Requirements:



  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data/Analytics, or a related field.


    • Coursework or exposure to any of the following:

      • Cybersecurity fundamentals (network security, threat types, identity and access management)
      • Security monitoring or endpoint protection concepts
      • Active Directory, Azure AD, or identity lifecycle concepts
      • Ticketing systems or incident tracking tools

        Preferred:






    • Familiarity with basic networking concepts, operating systems (Windows/Linux), or security frameworks (NIST, CIS, ISO)
