Job Description:

Perkins Coie LLP is seeking a dynamic, creative, and enthusiastic leader to manage the day-to-day business operations and office management for its Phoenix and Denver offices. The Office Business Director, under the direction of the Office Managing Partner, will report to the Regional Business Director and will actively engage in strategic planning relative to the operations of both offices.

This position is based in Phoenix and includes direct oversight of the Denver office. Regular travel to Denver is expected approximately once per month for a minimum of 3-4 business days, with additional travel as business needs require.

This is an in-office role with an expectation of 5 days per week onsite.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Champion initiatives that drive engagement and strengthen a culture of collaboration, respect, and commitment to client service excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with legal regulations, industry standards, and internal policies, while implementing risk management strategies and staying current on regulatory changes impacting office operations.
  • Collaborate with all Business Services departments such as Real Estate, Business Resilience, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Pro Bono, Diversity and Inclusion, Information Technology, Practice Management, and Professional Standards with a goal of ensuring that both offices operate efficiently with the highest level of client service and safety.
  • Provide operational leadership and consistency across both locations, aligning processes and best practices while addressing office-specific needs.
  • Responsible for space planning, hoteling programs, and facility management.
  • Responsible for creating a welcoming experience for new employees, ensuring smooth onboarding and integration into the firm.
  • Develop and oversee annual budgets, monitor financial performance, report on monthly expenses, and drive cost-saving initiatives to enhance profitability, including managing office accounting functions and expense approvals.
  • Supervise office business professionals across both offices.

SKILLS NECESSARY

  • Proven leadership in office management, operations, or a related field, with expertise in problem-solving, planning, and decision-making.
  • Exceptional client service and proven ability to be responsive to office leadership and partner requests.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive and support culture and engagement initiatives that foster a collaborative, client-focused environment.
  • Experience managing and leading business professionals remotely across multiple office locations, ensuring alignment, accountability, and consistent performance.
  • Comprehensive understanding of business administration and knowledge of state and local labor laws, particularly in multi-state environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across departments and locations.
  • Proficiency in finance and accounting processes, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex issues.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and document management systems.

This position requires a minimum of five years of supervisory or office management experience in a mid-sized or larger office and a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Experience in a law firm environment is strongly preferred.
