Director of Human Resources
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Human Resources to lead and guide our people strategy while fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace. This role partners closely with the President & CEO and senior leadership to ensure our talent, culture, and organizational practices support the company's long-term success.
The Director of HR oversees the full employee lifecycle-from recruitment and development to engagement and retention-and serves as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees on workforce matters. This role plays a key part in strengthening our culture, developing future leaders, and ensuring our people practices are effective, compliant, and aligned with business goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership
  • Partner with executive leadership to align people strategy with company goals.
  • Lead workforce planning and succession planning initiatives.
  • Oversee leadership development programs to build organizational capability.
Employee Relations
  • Provide guidance and coaching to managers on employee relations matters.
  • Manage workplace concerns, investigations, and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure fair and consistent application of policies and people practices.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Provide strategic oversight of compensation and total rewards programs.
  • Manage salary structures, wage bands, merit and COLA programs.
  • Oversee employee benefits and retirement programs, including the company's 401(k).
Performance Management & Talent Development
  • Lead performance management programs including mid-year and annual reviews.
  • Support goal setting, employee development, and leadership growth.
  • Promote strategies that strengthen employee engagement and retention.
Compliance & HR Operations
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations across multiple states.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures aligned with best practices.
  • Manage HR initiatives, projects, and departmental operations.
  • Partner with immigration counsel to manage employment-based immigration matters, including H-1B visas, green card sponsorship, student visas (e.g., F-1/OPT/CPT), and other work authorization programs; ensure compliance with applicable immigration laws and reporting requirements.
Culture, Engagement & Inclusion
  • Support initiatives that promote employee engagement, recognition, wellness, and work/life flexibility.
  • Champion an inclusive and respectful workplace culture.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 15+ years of progressive HR experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in employee relations and labor relations.
  • 7+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • AEC Industry experience a plus.
  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent certification preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to align HR initiatives with organizational strategy.
  • Broad HR expertise including compensation, benefits, employee relations, and talent management.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead complex initiatives.
  • High integrity and discretion when handling sensitive matters.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. employment-based immigration processes, including H-1B, green card sponsorship, and student visa programs, and the ability to partner effectively with immigration counsel.
