Department:Valkaria Airport Office Organizational Unit:Valkaria Airport Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time Open Until Filled. $22.84 to $23.98 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. South Area/Valkaria Airport. Works schedule is Tuesday through Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and may include evenings weekends and holidays.Performs experienced paraprofessional work maintaining the daily operations of a general aviation airport. Work involves various compliance duties and serving as a point of contact for tenants, visitors, vendors, and contractors; interfacing with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Florida Department of Health (FDOH), and Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) employees and officials, and employees from other County departments; directing the work of volunteers and interns; assisting with monitoring current airport projects, contractors, and aviation operations; and inspecting and servicing facilities and the grounds in order to ensure the safety of pilots and airport users. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Aviation Management, or a closely related field PLUS one (1) year of experience in aviation operations PLUS one (1) year of experience in the operation and maintenance of light equipment. Experience with operating mowing tractors and other heavy medium and heavy equipment is required. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis. Experience with aviation navigational equipment (NAVAIDs) is preferred. Experience with complete lifecycle of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) transportation grants, including pre-application, application, acceptance, invoicing, closing, and auditing is preferred. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must be able to be on-call twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week, and be able to work extended hours when necessary, including nights, weekends, and holidays. This is moderate physical work that that requires fine motor skills, good eyesight, hearing, and speaking, with the ability to speak clearly when using a telephone and a radio, and may involve exposure to dirt, noise, working in and around moving machinery, and extreme weather conditions. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
