Denial Specialist II *Experience Level:* Entry Level
*Location:* Remote (PST, MST, CST - must work scheduled hours) *Assignment Duration:* 6 months (potential to extend or convert to FTE) Position Purpose The Denial/Correspondence Specialist II is responsible for generating, processing, and maintaining provider and member correspondence for preservice and concurrent review. This role ensures timely communication of authorization outcomes while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and company policies. Key Responsibilities * Generate approval and denial letters based on authorization outcomes. * Create correspondence from EMR documentation and process tasks within required turnaround times. * Review letters for grammar, clarity, and compliance before sending. * Update and maintain correspondence templates based on regulatory and interdepartmental inquiries. * Coordinate data collection, analysis, and reporting activities that impact the denial process. * Assist with compliance and turnaround time (TAT) logs for all correspondence notifications. * Collaborate with authorization teams and clinical reviewers for clarification. * Perform other duties as assigned. Education & Experience * *Required:* High School diploma or GED. * *Experience:* 1-2 years of related experience (basic medical terminology, CNA, CMA, denials). * *Preferred:* Previous denial, appeals, or utilization management (UM) experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications * Strong written and verbal communication in English. * Attention to detail with a focus on compliance and accuracy. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, OneNote, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive). * Experience generating, mailing, and/or electronically faxing approval/denial letters. * Ability to simplify complex information into clear, easy-to-understand language. * Experience working in production-driven environments, meeting deadlines and performance metrics. *Disqualifiers:* * Limited English proficiency (written or spoken). * Limited technical proficiency. * Poor attention to detail or weak written communication skills. * Candidates with only call center experience. Schedule * *Training (first 2 weeks):* 8AM-5PM PST, Mon-Fri, camera on, no time off. * *Production Shifts:* * *Tuesday-Saturday, 12PM-9PM CST* * Sunday-Thursday, 12PM-9PM CST *Job Type & Location*This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tacoma, WA. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $22.47 - $22.47/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
