• 4 years of experience operating cut thread machines, lathes, or similar metalworking equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, thread callouts, GD&T, and machining drawings.
• Skilled in using precision measurement tools (micrometer, caliper, thread ring/plug gauges).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.

The Job in Action

• Set up and operate cut thread machines (die-head threading machines).
• Select and install the correct dies, chasers, cutting tools, and work-holding fixtures.
• Adjust machine speeds, feeds, cutting oils, and tool positions to meet thread specifications.
• Load and unload raw material (bars, blanks, or fastener stock).
• Measure finished threads using thread gauges, micrometers, calipers, pitch gauges, and other precision tools.
• Inspect workpieces throughout production to ensure consistent part quality.
• Monitor machine performance and perform routine cleaning and lubrication.
• Identify worn or damaged tooling and replace as necessary.
• Troubleshoot issues such as poor finish, incorrect pitch, chatter, or tool wear.
• Communicate mechanical or production problems to supervisors promptly.
