The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing at the University of Texas at Dallas is seeking a highly motivated PostDoctoral Research Associate for a joint appointment between the Speech Sensorimotor Control Lab and the Speech Neuroscience Lab. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to leading-edge research on the sensorimotor mechanisms of speech and their impairments in adult neurogenic and neurological populations with speechlanguage disorders.

About the Research Program
Our labs investigate the neural and sensorimotor bases of speech production using a combination of EEG, fMRI, and advanced behavioral testing methodologies. The successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and a vibrant interdisciplinary research environment.

Responsibilities
The PostDoctoral Research Research Associate will:

  • Plan, conduct, and direct a variety of experiments and simulations using advanced equipment and complex research techniques.
  • Collect, analyze, evaluate, and interpret research data.
  • Plan and execute experimental protocols with precision and scientific rigor.
  • Disseminate research findings through manuscript preparation, conference presentations, and grant proposal writing.
  • Engage in collaborative research across multiple disciplines within UT Dallas.


Candidates with a PhD in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech and Hearing Science and other related fields (e.g., Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Engineering and Psychology) are welcome to apply .
The salary for Post-Doctoral Research Associates in BBS is determined by years of experience per the current NIH (NRSA) stipend levels. Salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications. This appointment is for 1 year with the possibility of renewal. Continued employment is contingent on availability of funds and satisfactory performance.
Minimum Education and Experience
Ph.D in a related field.

Candidates who have successfully completed all requirements for the Ph.D. but whose degree has not yet been formally conferred may be eligible to begin employment provided they submit an official letter from the Registrar or Graduate School of the degree-granting institution certifying that all doctoral requirements have been satisfied and specifying the expected date of conferral. Appointment and continued employment are contingent upon formal conferral of the Ph.D.

Preferred Experience
Experience with Speech, EEG, and fMRI data collection and analysis as well as computer programming is preferred.
Other Qualifications
To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.

  • Ability to work collaboratively, with excellent oral and written communication skills.

This position may be subject to local travel for assessment, data collection, participant recruitment or participant needs. Other occasional travel may occur such as for training/development, conferences, etc.
