Position Description: Reworld is seeking an innovative and successful Safety and Health professional who is forward-thinking and progressive in their approach to safety and health management systems. The Senior Director, Health & Safety is an experienced, energetic, dedicated, versatile, self-motivated health and safety professional who has proven leadership skills, and is a relationship builder with a solid track record of leading implementation of safety and health programs and changing culture in an industrial environment. This is a great opportunity in a growing company to be strategic and impactful. This position is based out of the Midwest Region. The candidate is expected to be located within the region, which includes sites in MI, OH, IL, IN, NY, IA, PA and WI, along with sites in Canada. There is an estimated 50% travel for responsibilities in supporting our Midwest sites. Responsibilities: * Foster the success of safety programming through strong relationships with the President of the Midwest, Chief Operating Officer, Area Managers, site/regional staffs, site managers, site safety managers, the corporate health and safety team, and other functional groups. o Develop, deploy, and support implementation of health and safety regional strategy and associated policies, processes, and procedures, in alignment with corporate strategy. o Build H&S rigor with the sites across the Midwest through culture change, leadership, and strong process implementation. o Interface with Risk Control, Insurance, and client/disposal partner ES&H Representatives. o Drive continuous improvement to all current policies, regulations, and unique industrial process rules. o Conduct and coordinate worker training in areas governed by OSHA, DOT, and other governing agencies. o Collaborate with regional peers for best practice sharing of safety programs, compliance, and improvement opportunities. o Conduct and coordinate audits for assigned sites in the region, track/report findings, and ensure action completion. o Participate in the development and implementation of Corporate safety procedures and programs. o Responsible for regional spend against corporate budget, coordinating with regional leadership team and finance. o Manage several direct reports. Coach and support the site safety leads with the following topics and others as needed: * Development of training strategy and materials, coordination of safety themes, and oversight of training completion. * Fit testing. * Ergonomics evaluations and design changes. * Risk assessment and hazard control evaluation. * Evaluation of safety and health program implementation and maintenance at site level. * Evaluation of PPE selection. * Completion and tracking of industrial hygiene sampling and medical surveillance testing (blood lead levels, hearing testing, respiratory medical qualifications). * Contractor management and oversight of temporary employees. * Recordkeeping as required by regulations and procedures, as well as internal reporting. * Communications relating to health and safety, at all levels throughout our sites. o Provide support for outage planning, participation and oversight. o Facilitates and/or participates in incident investigation/Root Cause Analyses for OSHA-recordable injuries and serious near misses. o Analyzes regional health and safety trends and develops actions in response. o Oversees reporting of regional leading and lagging indicators into safety management software tool. Reports to senior leaders on regional safety performance. o Lead lean problem solving, Kaizens, and continuous improvements for missed KPIs. Requirements: o Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field or equivalent industrial experience. o Preferred CSP or CIH certification. o 10+ years applicable experience (industrial safety & health, environment, OSHA, regulations, ANSI, NFPA, and NIOSH standards). o Experience working at a regional level or in support of multiple sites. o 5+ years of in-process and program experience. o 3+ years direct management experience. o Experience with safety management software tools is preferred. o Experience with applying lean concepts is preferred. Work Environment and Physical Requirements: The work environment is highly industrial in nature with large fluctuations of heat, cold and exposure to potential hazards. o Able to stand or sit for sustained periods of time. o Able to climb stairs and ladders; can work at heights if needed. o Able to work in confined areas when needed. o Able to lift equipment that can weigh up to 25 pounds on an infrequent basis. o May need to wear personal protective equipment including respiratory protection, fall protection, safety boots, protective clothing, hearing protection, and gloves. Pay Transparency Reworld is committed to paying its staff equitably, and we strive to provide competitive compensation and benefits packages. The range below reflects Reworld's reasonable estimate of base pay for this role based on primary posting location. It is expected that most qualified candidates in this location will fall within the posting range. The final salary offered for this role will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to: experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements and/or union contracts (if applicable). Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future. The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $180,600.00 - $258,100.00 USD. For hourly roles, this is the annualized salary.
