RK&K is seeking a dynamic Senior Project Delivery Leader / Senior Project Manager to help support and grow our Texas transportation team. The successful candidate will manage roadway projects (schematic and PS&E); recruit, mentor and train a team of transportation engineers; and support marketing/business development efforts across the Lone Star State. This is an outstanding opportunity to help build, develop and lead a group of transportation professionals while delivering projects in Texas and supporting our broader (non-Texas) company portfolio of work. Essential Functions Job functions may include:
- Lead large and multifaceted transportation design projects in a dynamic, fast-paced team-oriented environment
- Review and certify engineering plans, models and documents to meet quality control goals and standards
- Identify and develop design and route options; evaluate options to identify a recommended solution
- Mentor engineering and technician staff on transportation design tasks
- Produce and oversee development of conceptual designs and schematics
- Produce and oversee development of construction documents, specifications, and construction cost estimates
- Prepare for and facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations and approval of plans
- Direct project staff and sub-consultants on various projects and assignments
- Serve as liaison between clients and firm
- Coordinate and develop relationships with clients, consultants, government agencies, and project staff
- Support proposal and business development efforts
- Manage contracts, schedules and budgets
- Provide input and assist with development/implementation of strategies geared toward achieving RK&K's growth goals within the Texas market.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited engineering program
- Fifteen (15) + years of experience in civil engineering design and/or transportation/highway engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Texas (or ability to obtain)
- Expertise in OpenRoads Designer / Microstation / Geopak / InRoads and strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong understanding of AASHTO, State and local design criteria
- Strong understanding of highway construction means and methods
- Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver large, complex transportation projects
- Ability to think strategically and solve complex, multi-faceted problems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and develop teams
- Strong understanding of highway design standards, current software and other highway design manuals, trends and guidelines
- Strong contract management skills (negotiations, fee development, scope development and implementation, invoicing and progress reporting, etc.)
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Proven track record of winning and successfully delivering work (preferably with the Texas Department of Transportation and/or Texas municipalities)
- Involvement with relevant Professional Societies
