Account Clerk IIs perform a variety of difficult to complex clerical work in the preparation and maintenance of financial, accounting, and statistical records. Typical duties may include:
*Entering data from various sources such as invoices, journal vouchers, job charges, accounts receivable billing reports, and receipt verifications on a PC.
*Adding hours from timesheets and calculating taxes and deductions for checks by using a 10-key calculator.
*Calculating amounts on invoices, petroleum transaction sheets, wage authorizations, chemical receiving reports, bank account reconciliations, and bond interest and redemption reports.
*Validating account coding by inputting data into a PC.
*Manually matching invoices to approved packing slips and/or receiving documents.
*Reviewing time sheets.
*Sorting and batching paychecks in numerical order.
*Verifying amounts dispersed by matching advance authorizations to expense reports.
*Manually compiling documentation such as field orders, material requisitions, and material returns.
*Performing inventory audits of storage facilities both on- and off-site by manually counting items.
*Reconciling paid account documents such as invoices and receipts.
*Reconciling advance authorization disbursements, payroll labor edits, cash on hand, and book balances.
*Analyzing receiving reports such as unmatched vouchers and check registers.
*Balancing petroleum inventory.
*Verifying invoice numbers against invoice requisition amounts.
*Typing envelopes, form letters, cash receipts, and checks.
*Sending and receiving documents by fax machine, answering telephones, and proofreading accounting documents and correspondence.
The ideal candidate will have:
*Previous experience with PC applications such as Word and Excel.
*Experience with repetitive tasks, typing (data entry), filing, and 10-key by touch.
*Good written and oral communication skills.
There is currently one opening in the Accounts Payable Unit within the Accounting Division.
The salary range is $6,593 per month increasing to $6,923, $7,269, $7,632, and $8,014 after 6, 18, 30, and 42 months, respectively.

2.Candidates must achieve a passing score on each test part in order to advance to the next step in the selection process.
3.Qualified applicants will be invited to an online written test tentatively scheduled for mid-March 2026. The written test subject areas will include Mathematical Calculations and Statistics, Recordkeeping, Data Accuracy and Verifications, and Fiscal Terminology and Governmental Accounting.
4.Those candidates passing the written test will be invited to a panel interview, which may include a work sample project designed to further evaluate readiness for the position. This test step is expected to be held in early April 2026.
5.Successful candidates will be placed on the hiring list, based on rank, for further consideration to fill the current regular vacancy, as well as others occurring over the next 12 to 24 months.
6.The probation period for this position is 6 months. For those holding civil service status the probation period is 6 months.

Level of Proficiency Definition:
Expert: can execute most features of a program (e.g., mail merge, creating labels, run reports, etc.)
Good: can create and edit a document (spreadsheet, data base, etc.), has knowledge of formatting features (fonts, bold, basic calculations, etc.)
Basic (Beginner) can get into and maneuver within program. May have no "hands-on" experience but has taken a class or has used similar software programs.
