Schedule: 12 hour shifts, weekends included (36hrs)

Setting: 15% Outpatient 85% Inpatient | Adult, Primarily Geriatrics

Call/Weekends: Yes - Weekends

Position Overview:

Henry Ford Health System is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Trauma Surgery Team. The Trauma Surgery Provider delivers comprehensive inpatient and/or outpatient care to trauma and surgical critical care patients. This role involves obtaining patient histories, performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating diagnoses, and initiating appropriate treatment plans. Working closely with trauma surgeons, critical care physicians, nursing staff, house officers, and the broader care team, the provider ensures high-quality, efficient, and safe patient outcomes. Clinical responsibilities may include performing procedures in alignment with credentialing, training, and experience.

Employment contingent upon credentialing and completion of Employee Health screening per HFHS policy.

Qualifications:

  • NP or PA graduate from an accredited program
  • Experience in ED or Critical Care preferred
  • Current Michigan licensure
  • APP experience required
  • National certification (ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA)
  • BLS required; ACLS required (or obtained after hire)

Credentials:

Education & Training

* Physician Assistant (PA): Completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)

* Nurse Practitioner (NP): Completion of a Nurse Practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)

Licensure

* Current licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, in the State of Michigan, or in the process of applying (proof of application required).

Certification

* PA: Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

* NP: National certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan

(e.g., ANCC, AANP)

Required Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - required (may be obtained after hire)

DEA / Controlled Substance Licensure

  • PA: DEA and Michigan Controlled Substance License (CSL) required through credentialing
  • NP: DEA registration required through credentialing; NPs do not hold a Michigan CSL and will use their Michigan license number during the application process
