JOB DESCRIPTION

EMPLOYER: Delta Dental of California

TITLE: Expert Quality Engineer

Location: 1333 Broadway, Suite 800, Oakland, CA 94612; Must live within reasonable commuting distance from HQ and able to appear in office as required.

Salary: $138,445 - $143,445/year

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Defines and creates detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test strategies.
  • Estimates, prioritizes, plans and coordinates testing activities.
  • Leads team members in overall execution of testing and defect identification and management.
  • Develops tools to perform testing or other functional needs. Selects, set ups and maintains testing strategies, testing tools and environments.
  • Investigates the causes of routine defects and recommend new processes and/or solutions as appropriate (i.e. software upgrade).
  • Develops best practices and standards and works with teams to ensure these are utilized.
  • Contributes to and helps grow Delta's Test Automation Community of Practice.
  • Must live within reasonable commuting distance from HQ and able to appear in office as required.


QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Master's degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science or related field and three (3) years of experience in software testing or in the job offered or related role.
  2. Software test automation tools and technologies such as WebdriverIO, Protractor, Cypress, Pytest, Selenium, xUnit, Unified Functional Testing, PostMan, SOAPUI, or Mockito to automate the test scripts in order to eliminate manual effort to execute test cases.
  3. JavaScript based automation frameworks for Web application development.
  4. CI/CD technologies such as Jenkins, Chef or Bamboo to automate the build and deployment of code from one environment to another and to production.
  5. SQL, XML and JSON to understand the data flow between applications.
  6. Source code version control, Git or SVZ.
  7. Defect tracking systems such as JIRA to report, track and manage defects and assess the quality of software.
  8. Test management and reporting tools such as Quality Center, Zephyr or qTest to manage the test cases and collaborate with other quality engineers on test cases.
  9. Experience working in an Agile environment to collaborate with other engineers, Scrum Masters and Product Owners.


Base Pay Information

The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.
