SCHEDULING DIRECTOR, INDUSTRIAL We are seeking a Scheduling Director with at least 15 years of experience to lead our industrial department focused on projects in the power generation, water/wastewater and process markets. This candidate would lead the full scheduling and project controls function across a quickly growing industrial sector with multiple market focuses and fast-tracked complex EPC projects. This role communicates with op unit leadership, develops and manages schedule and project controls strategy, ensures high schedule standards and technical consistency, ensures coordination across different phases of the program including design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and turnover. This position will serve in a senior advisory role to op unit leadership. Key goals will be to drive transparency and predictability of project outcomes, document and communicate changes, mitigate risk and seize opportunities for the company's industrial portfolio. This role will also manage a small staff of project schedulers and ensure consistency according to company scheduling standards. This is a key position for a leader that understands the complexities and fast pace necessary to deliver EPC projects. Qualifications: Required:
- Bachelor's degree in construction-related field or 8 years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education
- 15+ years of construction & scheduling experience
- Experience with heavy industrial EPC projects
- Expertise with Earned Value Management (EVM),project controls tools and Primavera P6
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of cost and resource loaded schedules, change management and claims avoidance and resolution techniques
Preferred:
- Previous experience implementing and training on project controls software
- Previous experience with InEight project controls
Office and Travel: Works on project site or in regional office with periodic travel. In addition to regional meetings and some overnight travel may be required. Hybrid options available with 50% travel. Responsibilities and Tasks: Key Core Responsibilities
- Strategically develop and manage schedules across the portfolio, with the support of project teams and scheduling department. This includes integration of design, procurement, engineering and subcontractor requested and provided information.
- Implement and maintain scheduling and project controls consistency and provide reporting necessary to use predictive analysis for project outcomes.
- Communication with project teams and executive leadership providing insight from scheduling and controls perspective.
- Change management and communication of project impacts to executive leadership. Strategize and development fragnets and documentation to support program changes and impacts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, computer skills, including Excel
Ensure Consistency with Scheduling Department Standards
- Manage balance between company scheduling standards for schedule development and structure with client and project contract requirements.
- Maintain WBS and coding structures
- Structure of schedules to support reporting and KPI measurement
- When necessary, use consistency in receiving and inputting resource and cost information for progress and productivity measurement
- Weather and change management structure implementation
- Integration into project short interval and pull planning operations
Team Management
- Develop knowledge of team of project scheduling managers supporting industrial projects. Elevate scheduling literacy of team and projects.
- Ensure project schedules meet client and department needs and standards. Works with team members to develop their understanding of those needs and ensure they are met on their respective projects
- Conduct plan and schedule quality checks of both scheduling team members and project teams to maintain coordination between a good project plan and schedule. Check for CPM and schedule integrity best practices across the program
- Perform risk and opportunity assessments on projects and communicate findings to scheduling and project management
- Ensure sound project schedule accuracy and setup of logic, cost and resource loading, critical path, success probability and more.
Project Controls/EVM
- Implementation of EVM project controls across entire op unit for broad range of project profiles
- Collaborate with estimating and project development on consistency of data inputs along with project controls closeout and the tie back to cost history and project development
- Train team members on EVM project controls and field claiming process
- Develop standard work for documenting the McGough project controls playbook
Schedule Plan Support
- Support and manage planning development and schedule coordination meetings with project verticals including design, constructability, procurement, construction, short interval planning, trade partners, testing and commissioning
- Lead or support schedulers management of scheduling workshops including pull planning sessions, weekly schedule workplan meetings and schedule recovery sessions
- Facilitate short interval and lookahead planning sessions. Communicate key interim milestones, connections to follow along work, understanding of productions and understanding of project phasing. Perform and support recovery of milestones projecting late completion and provide time saving ideas to project teams.
- Perform and communicate critical path analysis, evaluation of resource and cost projection and variance of project key completion and interim milestones
- Support in coordination and tracking of key procurement process. Develop structure of design, procurement, installation, energization, commissioning and turnover in schedule to enable most efficient visuals for project team understanding
Risk Management
- Lead schedule risk analysis, change and impact management on projects with fragnet development and what-if simulations to project actual and potential impacts to the program.
- Develop documentation and narratives to articulate all impacts to the program in support of change communication to Clients.
- Communicate with executive leadership recurring or significant issues facing the project team
Leadership and Client Communication
- Ongoing communication with Scheduling Director, Program Leadership and Key Stakeholder Clients
- Discuss executive program and project level progress and performance metrics, monitors program KPIs and communicates schedule health and action items
- Develop, via P6, Tableau and other company standard resources with the Director of Scheduling, dashboards and reports to deliver insight to project teams and executive leadership on project performance and forecasting
- Support forensic analysis and claims, impact and delay assessment strategies to prepare executive leadership for client discussions
Other Responsibilities
- Actively contribute as a member of the Scheduling team, collaborating to support shared goals and objectives
- Participate in business development activities (client functions, design firm open houses, conferences, etc.)
- Foster relationships with clients, architects, engineers, consultants and subcontractors
- Attend and participate in project management and other company meetings
- Attend any training - personal and/or professional development - that is relevant to the position
- Attend company-sponsored events
- Perform function of Scheduler as may be necessary for supporting op unit needs

If you join McGough, your final base salary will be determined by several factors, including geography, location, skills, education, and experience. Furthermore, we place significant value on pay equity among our current team members as part of any final job offer. Please note that the range provided above reflects the hiring range for this role.
