Overview

Build your clean energy career in one of the largest demand response teams in the country! Con Edison's demand response team is hiring a Clean Energy DRMS Senior Specialist. The demand response team manages dispatchable distributed energy resources (including curtailment and generation) that are located at customer facilities to reduce the demand on the electric grid on the hottest days of the year. The Senior Specialist will support delivery of the Demand Response Management Systems (DRMS) functionality needed to successfully run the Company's demand response programs. This includes requirements gathering, management of external software development vendor and system integrator, testing and integration of the DRMS vendor's software, and scope and budget of the DRMS project. The DRMS software recently completed scalability enhancements, which expanded the software capability from managing 3,000 customers to over 100,000. The current three-year roadmap calls for over $20M of investments to increase the functionality of this software. The DRMS Senior Specialist will be responsible for modifications and enhancements to the DRMS system and will work alongside the Demand Response Operations and Strategy teams.This is a great role to demonstrate your ability to drive results, apply cross-disciplinary skills to the clean energy space, and gain firsthand experience with the clean energy transition.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Perform software project development, including planning, design, implementation, testing, and quality assurance of Con Edisons DRMS.
  • Develop and maintain business requirement documents, processes, procedures, project schedules, and project budgets.
  • Support the demand response strategy and operations teams by providing software support, managing significant operational data within DRMS, measuring and reporting on program performance, and reporting on software functionality.
  • Identify and implement software solutions that comply with regulatory and internal standards, improve software functionality and customer experience, and reduce operational burden while maintaining project cost withing budget.
  • Ensure quality and completeness of interval data imported by DRMS; develop and employ quality control processes to ensure quality and completeness of DRMS data outputs.
  • Support program management, including analyzing, monitoring, and tracking project d schedule and costs.
  • Prepare and present information on program status to senior management and other internal and external audiences.
  • Support other administrative and analytical aspects of program operations, including customer enrollment processing, settlements processing, customer and vendor communications, reporting, data management, and quality control.
  • Commit to the ideals of developing a proactive, customer-centric culture to foster trust and confidence among customers (both internal and external) and improve value for all our stakeholders.
  • Participate in the on-call roster during the summer (electric) capability period.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant work experience or
  • Master's Degree and 2 years of relevant work experience
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Science, Business, Finance, Economics, Environmental Studies, or related field and 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Master's Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Science, Business, Finance, Economics, Environmental Studies, or related field and 2 years of relevant work experience
Relevant Work Experience
  • Experience supporting implementation of IT projects or large capital projects, including budget and financials, required.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, with the ability to work on multiple work streams in parallel and be able to see the big picture while also paying attention to detail, required.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to drive results by collaborating with internal and externals stakeholders, required.
  • Ability to make decisions in real-time, under pressure, required.
  • Flexibility to deal with ambiguity and comfortable working in a dynamic environment, required.
  • Demonstrated a service orientated work ethic with experience in managing multiple tasks and changing priorities, required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), required.
  • Experience working with large volumes of data, data management, data cleaning, and quality control, preferred.
  • Knowledge or work experience with utility energy efficiency and demand side management programs, preferred.
  • Familiarity with demand response and how electricity is distributed to customers, preferred.
  • Experience managing vendor, consultant, and contractor activities, preferred.
  • Experience with agile management practices, preferred.

Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
