Assistant Supervisor, Controls and Energy

Overview

To collaborate with the Supervisor, Energy Management & Control Systems (EMCS) in managing the personnel and operation of the mechanical and electrical control systems (e.g. heating, ventilation, air conditioning, fire alert systems, elevators, etc.) to ensure business continuity for Greater Pensacola Operations (GPO) corporate locations. Assists in supervising the collection and analysis of data harvested from efficiency studies and energy usage. Assists in managing the implementation of system strategies to maximize Building Automation Systems (BAS) performance, effectiveness, and cost savings. Remains on call to resolve unusual and/or emergency situations. Takes a leading role in developing contingency plans for disaster recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the monitoring of the campus building control systems to evaluate and optimize performance; ensure proper sequence of operation is applied and then assign the proper staff to correct any issue
  • Diagnose/assign routine and/or urgent problems that affect operations critical to the safe operation of the facility; escalate as needed
  • Identify and maintain log of technical, mechanical and/or electrical equipment problems; collaborate resolution with internal and external contacts
  • Supervise the installation, programming and start-up of BAS controls for GPO facilities
  • Collaborate with the supervisor in managing the preventive maintenance program for BAS: assigning perform preventive maintenance tasks, maintaining of records, maintaining of spare parts/instrumentation for system repair, and assigning calibration tasks
  • Collaborate with the supervisor to Identify areas of improvement; determine solutions; implement enhancements/changes to improve operations, standards and results
  • Collaborate with the Supervisor in developing strategies to resolve operational/functional issues; develop standards, objectives, priorities and alternatives for the section
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data; create statistical reports
  • Serve as primary point of contact for assigned project management duties and other related issues
  • Review maintenance modifications to ensure facilities are operating as designed
  • Supervise the maintaining of automated systems, sub-systems and databases
  • Collaborate with the supervisor by providing input and making budgetary recommendations regarding staffing and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with all security, safety and emergency preparedness procedures
  • Conduct periodic testing of systems and business recovery plans
  • Acts as supervisor/manager in the incumbent's absence
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Experience in building construction, inspection, modification, or energy improvement projects
  • Experience in applying sophisticated programming languages and system technologies
  • Experience in commercial building HVAC systems operation and maintenance
  • Working knowledge of BACnet and TCP/IP networking
  • Working knowledge of Eaton Foreseer power management software
  • Working knowledge of MechoSystems software and field devices
  • Effective skill in the operation and maintenance practices for high performance buildings
  • Effective skill in Trane Tracer Summit and Automated Logic systems
  • Effective skill in the operation Central Chiller Plants
  • Effective skill in control theory, psychometrics, end devices and sensors
  • Effective skill in the operation of Energy Recovery Units and associated factory controls
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced skill exercising and using good judgment to make sound decisions
  • Effective organizational, planning, and time management skills
  • Effective research, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Advanced skill in exercising initiative, good judgment, and making sound and timely decisions
  • Advanced word processing and spreadsheet software skills
  • Advanced database and presentation software skills
  • Advanced skill in the computer aided facility management (CAFM) and work management software
  • Advanced skill in managing personnel and information technology resources

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in the installation, start-up, maintenance and programming of BAS systems
