Basic Qualifications

* High School Diploma or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 4 years of related experience.
* An AA Degree or certification in assigned area is preferred if appropriate.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

With dedication and precision and stellar communication skills, the Advanced Shipping Associate will preform a combination of manual and clerical shipping duties by processing outgoing shipments. This will include finished products, raw stock, assemblies, parts, building materials, equipment, etc. Basically, you'll prepare merchandise for shipping, maintain records, and check invoices and bills of lading. You'll also answer calls and respond to inquiries regarding tracking of product and freight costs and file freight claims, if product is lost or damaged.

What you bring to the table:
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of 4 years of related experience. An AA Degree or certification in assigned area is preferred if appropriate
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment, including forklift, sky track, and cranes
  • Solid understanding of general and detailed aspects of the shipping process and their practical application to problems/situations
  • Skillful knowledge of shipping activities/processes, including classified materials

-Prepares materials for shipment, including finished products, raw stock, assemblies, parts, building materials, equipment, and determines proper packaging and cushioning.
-Processes outgoing shipments on the system, including verifying quantity, weight, conformance of materials

to stated identifications, and handling freight bills, packing sheets, and other documents.
-Lifts heavy items and may operate a forklift or other power industrial vehicles.
-Uses computer systems for processing, tracking, logging, verifying, and reporting shipments.
-Monitors and coordinates shipping activities, maintains daily status for work area activities, and ensures
adherence to scheduling requirements.
-Follows shipping practices and procedures, and transportation routing, schedules, and requirements.
-May handle and process classified material.
-Files freight claims with carriers if the product is lost or damaged.
-Answers calls and responds to inquiries regarding tracking of product and freight costs. Prepares export documentation and files all documentation electronically in the operating system.

-Reports materials shipped and bills of lading, posts weight and shipping charges, and routes merchandise
to destinations.
-Communicates clearly with coworkers, planners, material managers, and internal customers.
-Ensures lowest cost transportation by reviewing company and customer needs, researching transportation
methods, and auditing carrier costs and performances.

-Supports continuous improvement activities and suggests system and/or process changes.

Target salary range: USD $24.53/Hr. - USD $26.31/Hr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
