Job Responsibilities
* Independently author, revise, update, and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for substances and mixtures in compliance with global regulations.
* Perform hands-on hazard classification and labeling for substances and mixtures using GHS-based regulations.
* Review, correct, approve, and directly edit SDS prepared by external service providers to resolve compliance, quality, or data gaps.
* Ensure SDS compliance with global and regional regulations including EU CLP, UN GHS, OSHA HCS (USA), WHMIS (Canada), GB CLP (UK), and additional APAC, LATAM, and country-specific requirements.
* Apply industry-specific regulatory requirements and regional deviations as needed.
* Monitor regulatory changes and proactively assess their impact on SDS content.
* Source, collect, and validate technical and regulatory data from raw material SDS, supplier documentation, internal R&D formulations, certificates of composition, regulatory databases, and scientific literature.
* Identify data gaps, inconsistencies, or uncertainties and establish defensible regulatory assumptions.
* Document data sources, classification rationales, and regulatory decisions in an audit-ready manner.
* Act as the technical lead with external SDS authoring vendors, providing guidance, feedback, and quality oversight.
* Confidently challenge technical content and regulatory interpretations when necessary.
* Support internal stakeholders including HSE, Regulatory Affairs, R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, and Product Stewardship teams with hands-on regulatory guidance.
* Respond to customer, auditor, and regulatory authority inquiries related to SDS.
* Ensure SDS version control, traceability, and lifecycle management.
* Support regulatory inspections and internal/external audits within a regulated industry environment.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of SDS processes, templates, and quality standards.
* Operate independently as a global regulatory subject matter expert with full ownership of SDS deliverables.

Required Qualifications
* Bachelor"s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Toxicology, Regulatory Affairs, HSE, or a related scientific discipline.
* Strong hands-on experience authoring and reviewing SDS within a regulated industry (chemicals, specialty chemicals, pharmaceuticals, or industrial products).
* Prior experience working as an independent consultant or contractor preferred.
* Expert-level knowledge of GHS hazard classification for substances and mixtures.
* Advanced understanding of EU REACH & CLP and global SDS regulations.
* Ability to interpret toxicological, ecotoxicological, and physico-chemical data.
* Experience with SDS authoring systems such as SAP EHS, Sphera, Lisam, ChemGes, VelocityEHS, or similar platforms.
* Highly self-motivated with strong ownership mindset and attention to detail.
* Proven ability to work independently, resolve ambiguity, and operate in an audit-driven, regulated environment.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
