Production Supervisor - Swing Shift

2:30pm - 1:00am

In this role you will have the responsibility and authority to identify the status of production area and take action within the area as defined in documents such as controlled plans and work instructions. In addition, this role will interact with employees at all levels of the organization, internal and external customers, and outside contacts. Supervisory responsibilities include, but is not limited to, training and developing team members, delegating work assignments, writing, and conducting performance appraisals, coaching, and counseling team members, and administering disciplinary procedures.

Functions and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct work activity of team members in assigned area. Effectively grows future key employees and leaders. Distribute workload appropriately. Motivate and empower team members. Develop team members including, but not limited to, creating and executing individual development plans. Train and mentor team members in root cause analysis and PDCA.
  • Work with team members to identify continuous improvement opportunities. Continually identify and eliminate waste in assigned departments. Champion Lean Kaizen events to identify cost and time savings. Perform root cause analysis. Participate in cost-reduction programs. Coordinate new product launches with Engineering.
  • Develop and deploy standardized work instructions of assigned department(s). Ensure process stability through following standardized work. Conduct improvement events in department, resulting in measurable improvements in unit time and part flow. Drive measurable cost reduction through improved processes and training.
  • Perform capacity analysis using build plans. Determine staffing requirements for the assigned production area. Ensure that departmental productivity targets are met to meet customer requirements. Advocates the direction, goals and decisions of the organization. Troubleshoot scheduling and material issues.
  • Ensure quality standards are met that emphasize and focus on continuous improvement to improve manufacturing capability and reduce rework and scrap. Contain source of quality issues. Communicate with customers and establish and maintain effective relationships. Coordinate corrective action activities.
  • Promote and enforce compliance of safety policies and procedures. Conduct safety investigations and audits. Address safety non-compliance.
  • In partnership with HR, ensure the equitable experiences and promote a culture of inclusivity and belonging that embraces the contributions of all team members

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical or Materials Process Engineering.
  • 5+ years supervisory experience in manufacturing environment with demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Requires solid understanding and experience with concepts associated with Kaizen and Lean principles.
  • Must have ability to assess the overall health of a department or value stream through the correlation of data and direct observation. Ability to identify and implement systemically effective improvement plans based on this analysis.
  • Must demonstrate a creative approach to problem solving. Must possess capability to see beyond current or historical practice to provide alternate solution.
  • Has knowledge of multiple leadership approaches and is able to identify and apply the appropriate approach to building individual and team success.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Must have ability to effectively work with people in a team environment and at various levels of the organization.
  • Must possess strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Pay Range: $87050 to $145250 annually
