Title:Program Navigator - Crime Victim Compensation Program (Region 1) $23 - $26 / Posted Thru: 2/6/2026 This Position Requires a Cover Letter with Application Location: Remote/Virtual - Must Work and Live in the State of Michigan ***Candidate MUST reside in one of the following counties located in Region 1: Gogebic, Ontonagon, Houghton, Baraga, Iron, Marquette, Dickinson, Menominee, Alger, Delta, Schoolcraft, Luce, Chippewa, Mackinac, Emmet, Cheboygan, Presque Isle, Charlevoix, Antrim, Otsego, Montmorency, Leelanau, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Crawford, Oscoda, Alcona, Manistee, Wexford, Missaukee, Roscommon, Ogemaw, Iosco, Mason, Lake, Osceola, Clare, Alpena, Gladwin, Arenac*** Purpose: The Program Navigator is assigned to the Crime Victim Compensation Program section within MDHHS Division of Victim Services. This position will assist victims with completing crime victim compensation applications, obtaining documentation required to support those applications for crime victim compensation, and provide program information to community stakeholders/agencies. The Program Navigator is expected to determine if an applying victim has the correct documents and forms for a complete application before it is submitted. The position will screen materials and determine the quality of them before it is submitted to the program analysts and specialist. The navigator will determine when it is appropriate to intervene and advocate on the victim's behalf to retrieve police reports, medical bills, and receipts, pay stubs from an employer and other necessary materials. Duties and Responsibilities:
Qualifications/Requirements: Education: Possession of at least 60 college credits; preferably in human services, social work, or criminal justice. Equivalent experience will be considered as well. Experience: Two years of related experience performing complex analytical duties and/or working with crime victims. Important Skills and Characteristics:
Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Candidate MUST reside in the region for which they are applying. Physical effort in this position is limited to typing, regular use of a computer keyboard and screen. Occasional lifting and carrying of multiple program files or record boxes. RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS: No assigned responsibility. IMPACT ON PROJECTS, SERVICES AND OPERATIONS: This position has a direct impact on the quality of services provided by MPHI to MDHHS.
