Senior HVAC Technician - JLL

What this job involves:

As a Senior HVAC Technician at JLL, you'll be the technical expert responsible for maintaining and optimizing complex commercial building systems across our portfolio. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring our properties operate at peak performance while delivering exceptional service to our clients. You'll work independently within your designated territory, managing preventive maintenance programs, executing critical repairs, and mentoring junior technicians. Your expertise directly contributes to JLL's reputation for operational excellence and helps maintain the high-quality environments our clients depend on for their business success.

What is the day to day?

  • Maintain all HVACR and Chiller equipment with a professional and safe approach.

  • Review and analyzing system data (reliability, 1 calls, etc.) and developing initial recommendation with Chief Engineer on any maintenance changes, upgrades, replacements, etc.

  • Provide professional feedback to update preventative maintenance procedures.

  • Maintain up to date & complete system documentation in a central resource location, for all repairs or changes to the system.

  • Monitor the operation and make adjustments on chiller, refrigeration, heat exchangers, HVAC, and hot water systems

  • Monitors operation, adjusts, and maintains refrigeration, chilled water, and air conditioning equipment; boilers, and ventilating and hot water heaters; pumps, valves, piping and filters; other mechanical and electrical equipment

  • Record readings and make adjustments where necessary to assure proper operation of equipment.

  • Analyze the operation of various systems and troubleshoot any problems/malfunctions and perform corrective action as required.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVACR and chiller systems to include: mobilization of tools, equipment and materials; performing work with minimal disruption to occupants; properly maintaining required documentation, conducting immediate cleanup of work area including returning tools to workshop, and unused supplies to store room

  • Identify and report all equipment problems, impending supply or material shortages to the Chief Engineer.

  • Maintains tools and orders supplies as required for installation and repairs.

  • Complies with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage and disposal of hazardous materials and refrigerants.

  • Maintains a clean and safe workspace.

  • Any and all other duties/tasks assigned

Desired experience and technical skills -

Required

  • Minimum 10 years of commercial HVAC experience with hands-on expertise in chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, and building automation systems

  • EPA Universal Certification and current knowledge of HVAC codes, laws, and regulations

  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for complex mechanical and electrical systems

  • High school diploma or GED with preference for vocational training or apprenticeship completion

  • Demonstrated ability to safely work with energized electrical systems, at heights, and in confined spaces

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven customer service abilities

  • Physical capability to lift 50 pounds and work in various positions and environmental conditions for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Background in training or mentoring technical personnel

  • Knowledge of MEP codes and regulations beyond HVAC systems

  • Familiarity with energy management and building optimization practices

  • Experience working in commercial real estate or property management environment
