Who we are looking for:

Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation, has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Gifts Officer, Philanthropy to advance our individual giving strategy and deepen relationships with high-capacity donors committed to accelerating cancer research, education, and patient care.

The Senior Gifts Officer plays a key role in managing a high-impact portfolio, partnering closely with senior leadership, and helping to achieve $1M+ in annual fundraising goals.

This role is ideal for a seasoned fundraiser who thrives in relationship-based giving and is energized by stewarding major, principal, and planned gifts that drive meaningful impact across cancer research, education and patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Manages a portfolio of >125 major/planned/principal gift donors and prospective donors, matching philanthropic priorities with Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation funding priorities

  • Supports the Division Director, Individual Giving, focusing on individuals with the capacity to give five- six- and seven-figures gifts) through planning, implementation, management, and continuous evaluation of programs

  • Under the direction of the Division Director,Individual Giving,prepares, implements, and evaluates an annual plan, including measurable goals and specific initiatives

  • Attends and supports allspecial eventswithin and provide follow-up stewardship

  • Usesallappropriate formsof communication to develop andmaintainrelationships with high level customers and C-suite internal and external leaders

  • Identifies, cultivates,solicits, negotiates, and stewards individual giftsutilizingmoves management and cultivation plans

  • Tracks donor and prospect information and communication inStratusLive(Conquer Cancer's CRM)

  • Participates in prospect strategy meetings, discusses strategies involving natural partners, acknowledges donor philanthropicobjectives, and prepares donor-centric proposals involving mid, major, principal, transformational and planned giving solutions

  • Sets an aggressive meeting schedule with prospects and existing donors and exceed ever-increasing fundraising goal

  • Assistsin the development of the case for support for organizational priorities,maintainseffective working relationships with key volunteers, prospects,donorsand financial advisors

  • Collaborateswith colleagues in communications, corporate relations, and other departments to ensure the success of individual gifts, and prioritize services for internal and external contactsin a timely manner

  • Attends and follows-up for select meetings with leaders of Philanthropy, and key volunteers; and performs other related duties andparticipatein specialprojects asassigned by the Division Director, Individual Giving

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree,or equivalent related work experience

  • 7+ years of direct experience fundraising for non-profit or medical organizations

  • Demonstrated success cultivating andmaintainingmultiple donorrelationships and converting prospects to donors

  • Knowledge of Planned Giving principles sufficient toidentifyplanned giving opportunities and connect donors to theappropriate resources

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree or equivalent years of experience or certifications relevant to the field such as CFRE

  • Memberships in AFP and other fundraising training and "trade" organizations

  • Excellentcommunication skills,includingwritten, with ability to clearly convey and receive information

  • Excellentinterpersonaland relationship building skills

  • Commitment to applying professional maturity and emotional intelligence to internal and external relationships

  • Ability toestablishrapport and cultivate relationships with new and existing donors

  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment, delivering quality work on deadline

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a teamincluding a commitment to adaptability in a changing environment

  • The ability todeterminegoals and priorities and to assess the actions, time and resources needed to achieve those goals

High use ofcomputerand other office technology equipment

Work at ASCO HQ

Staff are expected to perform work in-person at ASCO HQ as responsibilities dictate and/or upon theirmanagersrequest.

Travel

40-60days/yr, plus4-6on-site visits/yr.
