Job Summary

The Senior Associate Vice President (SAVP), Corporate Relations provides executive leadership and strategic direction for Florida International University's centralized corporate engagement efforts. As the senior executive for the Corporate Relations division within the OGCCR, the SAVP is responsible for developing a multi-year corporate strategy that supports the Universities Strategic Plan and R1 mission. This role serves as the unified institutional hub for high-impact partnerships, seamlessly aligning corporate investment across research, philanthropy, talent pipelines, and policy advocacy.

  • Establishes and sets the vision for a comprehensive corporate relations program that supports the Universities strategic plan, specifically focusing on becoming a national model for academic-industry relations.
  • Serves as the primary institutional lead to centralize corporate engagement, moving the university from a decentralized to a unified model for corporate partners.
  • Collaborates with Deans, VPs, and the FIU Foundation to ensure organizational needs are fulfilled through strategic corporate partnerships.
  • Catalyzes the implementation of a university-wide CRM to provide a 360-degree view of corporate partners, integrating data from philanthropy, research, and talent pipelines.
  • Manages an elite portfolio of the university's top corporate prospects, utilizing high-level cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Proactively sources industry-specific challenges and links them to faculty expertise and research capabilities to drive industry-sponsored research expenditures.
  • Oversees the identification and cultivation of corporate and foundation gifts, working with the FIU Foundation to meet the President's annual philanthropy targets.
  • Ensures all non-philanthropic financial commitments are routed through the Division of Finance for proper compliance, invoicing, and budget management.
  • Collaborates with Academic Affairs and Career Services to align corporate talent needs with curriculum development, capstone projects, and high-profile internship placements.
  • Leverages the influence and resources of strategic corporate partners to support the university's state and federal legislative priorities in tandem with the Vice President of Government, Corporate, and Community Relations.
  • Leads the development of high-quality collateral materials and marketing plans that communicate FIU's value proposition to national-scale corporate partners.
  • Recruits, trains, and motivates the Corporate Relations core team (Director and Coordinator),benchmarking progress and providing professional development opportunities.
  • Monitors and evaluates program activity against targets, including total corporate funding, sponsored research contracts, and active strategic partnerships.
  • Displays a high degree of confidentiality and ethics regarding donor and corporate records, maintaining the professional integrity of the OGCCR.


Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree and seven years of experience; or a bachelor's degree and nine years of experience.



Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • Extensive knowledge of the R1 research environment and the ability to strategically align faculty research with industry partnerships.
  • Experience in a large, complex public university or similar institutional setting.
  • Proven track record of managing high-level executive relationships and closing seven-figure corporate or foundation agreements.
  • Extensive experience in supervising and managing professional staff.
