Overview

We're looking for a hands-onSenior Owned Channels Tagging Leadwho will partner with marketing teams to implement, validate, and maintain marketing and analytics tagging across Microsoft-owned digital properties. This role is accountable for ensuring our websites, mobile apps, landing pages, blogs, and event experiences have the right tags deployed to capture complete, accurate signals for measurement, optimization, and personalization. You will own day-to-day execution of pixels, floodlights, conversion tags, analytics tags, and server-to-server integrations, and you'll be the technical point person for troubleshooting tracking issues across platforms and vendors.

Responsibilities
  • Tag implementation across owned channels (web + app + social):Partner with Marketers, Channel teams, Analytics, and engineering teams to ensure owned experiences (websites, landing pages, apps, blogs, social destinations, and event experiences) have correct tagging deployed, and that the tracking architecture supports the required level of detail for post-campaign analysis.
  • Client-side tagging (pixels, floodlights, analytics tags):Implement, maintain, and evolve client-side tagging (analytics tags, conversion tags, floodlights, custom variables/parameters, and platform pixels for Meta, Pinterest, etc.) to support reporting, optimization, and personalization ensuring correct firing, sequencing, and payload accuracy.
  • Tag governance, QA, and signal integrity:Own end-to-end tagging QA before and after launches (campaign launches, site/app releases, landing page updates). Validate that tags fire correctly, parameters are populated, and data is captured as expected. Diagnose and resolve tracking gaps, broken tags, and reporting discrepancies; collaborate with channel teams, vendor partners, and ad tech platforms to restore signal integrity.
  • Privacy, compliance, and consent-aware controls:Ensure tagging adheres to regulatory and internal privacy/compliance requirements consent-aware firing, suppression rules, field-level data minimization, and approved vendor behaviors partnering with privacy/security teams when needed.
  • Documentation and operational excellence:Maintain detailed, current documentation (tracking plans, tag specs, parameter mappings, vendor-specific setup notes). Lead technical discussions for tagging workstreams, provide test/validation guidance, and coordinate with onsite/offshore teams to triage and resolve critical production issues.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
Additional or preferred qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ yearsexperience leading tagging programs across multiple owned properties(web + app) with standardized patterns and governance.
  • 5+ yearshands-on experience with server-side / API-based tagging (Conversions APIs, event forwarding, webhooks, API connectors), including dedupe controls and resiliency patterns.
  • 4+ yearsexperience implementing and validating mobile app analytics(iOS/Android) using SDKs and S2S integrations, including coordination across app release cycles.
  • 4+ yearsexperience with enterprise tag management and collection platforms (e.g., Adobe Experience Platform Data Collection/Launch, Google Tag Manager 360), including rules/templates and environment management.
  • 3+ yearsexperience establishing tagging QA operating models (release gates, regression coverage, test plans) and production monitoring/alerting for signal integrity.
  • 2+ yearsexperience operating in privacy-conscious environments (PII controls, field-level minimization, audit-ready documentation) and partnering with Privacy/Security teams.


Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
