The University of Arizona Clinical Research Administration is looking for a financial administrator to work closely with colleagues in a fast-paced environment. This position will offer ample opportunity to learn about the world of research administration in support of faculty who conduct health-focused research. The position will work closely with faculty, research nurses, study teams, and our medical partner, Banner Health (BH), to provide timely and expert support in the administrative post-award for clinical research projects. The Clinical Research Administration team provides compliance support and education for the research teams and faculty in the colleges, research institutes, and centers of the University of Arizona Health Sciences. In collaboration with our medical partners and university stakeholders, this team works directly with the faculty, staff, graduate and medical students, and post-doctoral trainees to: Determine billing compliance, Develop and negotiate clinical trial budgets, Manage clinical trial finances and billing, Negotiate and endorse contracts, Provide regulatory support and guidance, Develop and publish research data reports, Manage a clinical trial tracking and reporting system. This position is based in Tucson, Arizona, and is eligible for a hybrid work structure.

| Duties & Responsibilities |
- Review clinical research bills from medical providers and verify costs against vendor provided chargemaster.
- Serves as contact for internal and external partners to resolve billing discrepancies with medical partners.
- Log U of A payments to Banner and Sonora Quest Laboratories (SQL) into the designated SharePoint file.
- Oversee site's external fee schedules and billing compliance.
- Distribute partner invoices to U of A departments.
- Produce monthly financial reports for leadership and external partners.
- Support internal and external audits related to trial finances.
- Provide support to assigned clinical trial study portfolios.
- Coordinates and performs day to day operational and administrative activities in support of research programs.
- Work with clinical research staff to review and understand payment milestones to ensure we exhaust all sponsor invoicing opportunities.
- Develops and monitors project plans including timelines, resource requirements, and budgets.
- Utilize OnCore Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) for study account maintenance.
- Proactively support the reconciliation, invoicing, payment follow-ups, and management of research activity and expenditures.
- Work with U of A central offices to ensure checks, wire transfers, and receivables are credited to the correct accounts.
- Prepare monthly financial reports and projections for principal investigators to monitor account budgets, balances and account reconciliations, meet with units/programs on a regular basis, and manage escalations for complex accounts.
- Maintain accounting document files.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, providing or obtaining details that require significant explanation or interpretation to communicate information clearly.
- Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven, team environment with moderate guidance.
- Ability to evaluate and interpret a variety of issues, applying prior experience and analytical skills to develop innovative and creative solutions.
- Demonstrated knowledge of university and sponsor agency policies and procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing demands.
- General knowledge and understanding of clinical trial industry practices, techniques and standard use of principles, theories and concepts.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of a clinical trial management system (e.g. OnCore)
- Self-motivated; takes initiative and strong ability to multi-task multiple projects.
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office with proficiency in MS Excel. MS word, MS Outlook, Adobe Acrobat.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
- Three years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

- Experience in academic medical center setting working on clinical trials.
- Experience with U of A systems, specifically UAccess Research and Financials.
