Job Description




As a Security Officer - Plant Roving Patrol in Newport News, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Manufacturing & Industrial, and more. As an unarmed patrol officer at a manufacturing and industrial location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, and stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will communicate clearly with employees and visitors, document observations, and respond to concerns with strong customer service. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients, visitors, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout manufacturing and industrial buildings, production areas, warehouses, and exterior perimeters to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify unusual conditions.
  • Control access at designated entry points by monitoring authorized entry and/or exit, verifying identification as required, and directing visitors to proper check-in locations.
  • Monitor alarms, cameras, and/or other monitoring equipment, and report suspicious or unusual activity per site protocols.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including medical calls, disturbances, and property-related incidents, and request assistance from site leadership and/or public responders when needed.
  • Complete detailed incident reports and daily activity logs, documenting observations, patrol findings, and actions taken.
  • Perform foot and/or vehicle patrols of parking areas, loading docks, shipping and receiving zones, and fenced lines to help to deter theft and/or vandalism.
  • Support emergency and non-emergency procedures such as evacuations, sheltering, and access restrictions as directed by site leadership and post orders.
  • Conduct checks of doors, gates, and restricted areas, and report maintenance issues such as broken lights, unsecured openings, and damaged barriers through proper channels.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors, site contacts, and other Allied Universal team members using radios, phones, and written documentation while maintaining a professional presence.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
