Job Purpose

Are you a seasoned estimating professional passionate about driving accuracy and innovation in complex environmental remediation and construction projects? Join our dynamic team as a Lead Estimator, where your expertise will directly influence project success, cost efficiency, and sustainable outcomes.

In this pivotal role, you will lead the review and validation of comprehensive third-party cost estimates, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, competitiveness, and alignment with our company's strategic goals. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, challenge conventional estimating approaches, and mentor others to elevate our estimating capabilities.

Key Accountabilities
  • Take ownership of high-impact projects that protect the environment and support sustainable construction.
  • Lead and inspire a talented team, sharing your knowledge and best practices.
  • Work cross-functionally with engineers, project managers, and consultants to shape project outcomes.
  • Drive continuous improvement by refining tools, processes, and methodologies.
  • Stay at the forefront of industry trends, technologies, and market dynamics.
  • Ensure precision and reliability in cost estimates for complex environmental remediation and construction projects.
  • Analyze detailed project drawings, specifications, and documentation to fully understand scope and costs.
  • Standardize estimating approaches across regions and consulting teams to maintain consistency and quality.
  • Collaborate with consulting engineers to implement necessary corrections and optimize project estimates.
  • Lead quantity take-offs, unit pricing, and cost analysis to develop robust estimates.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and innovative alternatives within design documents.
  • Maintain thorough, audit-ready documentation using advanced Excel templates.
  • Mentor and guide team members to enhance estimating skills and knowledge.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Identify risks and uncertainties, developing strategies to mitigate them effectively.
  • Ensure all estimates comply with contractual, regulatory, and environmental requirements.
  • Conduct post-project reviews to compare estimates with actual costs and drive lessons learned.
  • Partner with PMO to enhance estimating databases, templates, and reporting tools.
  • Monitor market trends, material costs, labor rates, and emerging remediation technologies to keep estimates competitive and profitable.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Science, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • 7+ years of hands-on estimating experience in environmental remediation or construction projects.
  • Deep understanding of construction accounting, environmental regulations, and remediation techniques.
  • Proven ability to apply cost estimation and financial validation principles.
  • Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) or equivalent certification preferred.
  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40 certification is a plus.
  • Proficiency with estimating software such as Bluebeam and On-Screen Takeoff.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including cost modeling and audit documentation.
  • Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

Salary: $138,000.00 - $162,000.00 USD

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
