Under the general direction of the Senior Superintendent, perform the full range of journey level functions of a Plumber in the Mid-Wilshire Behavioral Health Campus. Inspect, maintain, repair, design, modify, and alter campus infrastructure to include all buildings, common areas, equipment, and building systems and ensure the efficient operation of the campus. Assemble, install, and repair pipes composed of metals such as iron, steel, brass, copper or lead, and nonmetals such as glass, vitrified clay and plastic. Assemble, install, and repair pipe fittings, valves and fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems. Cut and thread pipes using pipe cutters and cutting torch. Install and repair plumbing fixtures. If qualified, perform backflow testing to various plumbing systems as required. Operate, inspect and maintain tools of the plumbing trade. Perform finish plumbing and trim work. Read and interpret blueprints and develop layouts. Submit trouble tickets to supervisor, complete material order forms, maintain recordkeeping of hours worked on each job. Assist with developing and reviewing estimates. Clean up job site and assure good safety practices are observed on the job site and that tools and equipment are used with caution. Responsible for communicating job-related problems to appropriate supervisory levels in order to resolve on-site job concerns. Additionally, incumbent may be assigned to alternate work schedules, including weekends.

Hourly Wage: $52.76

Qualifications

  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand English to carry out job duties and complete clear, accurate reports.
  • Working knowledge of safe work practices, standard equipment, methods, current International Plumbing Code, N.F.P.A. 99, N.F.P.A. 13, N.F.P.A. 50 - Title 24 Code., OSHA and ADA requirements as it relates to the function and ability to recognize discrepancies of ADA and Fire/Life/Safety codes at each job.
  • Ability to read project specifications, blueprints and technical manuals.
  • Skill in conducting hydrostatic, air pressure and flow tests on water, air and natural gas lines, hydrostatic or air pressure and flow tests.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Ability to perform preventive and planned maintenance and using standard office. equipment and basic software.
  • Ability to stand, walk, crawl, climb, stoop, push, pull, and crouch for extended periods; ability to repeatedly raise or lower objects weighing up to 50 pounds from the floor to waist high and rotate the upper torso. Ability to wear required PPE.
  • Availability to work overtime and various shifts, including nights and weekends.
