ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a seasoned Vice President of Quality Engineering to lead the design, development, and evolution of our end-to-end testing frameworks and systems integration validation tools. This role will drive automation-first strategies, own build-vs-buy decisions for key components, and establish a Center of Excellence for quality engineering. This is a hands-on engineering leadership position with broad responsibility for the frameworks, platforms, and AI-enabled solutions that will ensure fast, scalable, and cost-efficient product releases.

The VP will be a visible technical leader and cross-functional partner, collaborating closely with engineering leadership across FOX to establish best practices in test engineering and automation. As our products and systems increase in complexity due to SVOD growth and new internal/external partnerships, this leader will set and enforce a high quality bar, implement aggressive benchmarking of production performance, and lean heavily into AI to reduce cost and manual intervention. Your ability to communicate technical strategies, influence architectural decisions, and scale engineering quality programs will be essential to our success.

This role will also focus on building a lean, high-impact internal team while effectively partnering with external vendors and technology innovators to accelerate capability development. Creating a function that is scalable, efficient, and deeply integrated with our engineering workflows is critical.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the development and ongoing evolution of our test automation frameworks, tools, and services.

  • Drive build vs. buy assessments and decisions for all major testing components.

  • Stand up and lead a testing operations function, inclusive of a quality engineering Center of Excellence.

  • Build software and services to support end-to-end testing, systems integration validation, and regression analysis.

  • Integrate AI/ML-enabled solutions aggressively to reduce manual testing efforts and optimize test execution.

  • Establish benchmarking strategies for production quality, performance, and system stability.

  • Build and manage a lean, scalable team while collaborating with external vendors and third-party innovators.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, and DevOps to drive shift-left testing practices and shared quality ownership.

  • Serve as a trusted technical voice in cross-org discussions to shape platform quality initiatives.

  • Ensure test coverage and performance metrics align with evolving platform architecture.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Proven leadership experience building and scaling quality engineering and test automation teams.

  • Demonstrated experience architecting and delivering custom test automation frameworks.

  • Hands-on engineering skills; ability to code, debug, and review test infrastructure in production environments.

  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, service mocks, and fault injection frameworks.

  • Deep understanding of system architecture in modern DTC or streaming platforms.

  • Strong communication and storytelling abilities to align executives, peers, and teams on quality strategies.

  • A strong track record of establishing best practices and technical excellence across rapidly growing and complex engineering organizations.

  • Experience managing vendor relationships and integrating third-party solutions to scale capabilities efficiently.

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Exposure to video streaming quality validation, playback testing, or CDN edge cases.

  • Experience integrating AI/ML systems into QA or test engineering workflows.

  • Familiarity with open-source and commercial test automation ecosystems.

  • Prior experience scaling teams in a high-growth consumer tech or media company.
