AES is hiring a NERC Compliance Lead Analyst who will be responsible for ensuring compliance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) O&P standards and related regulatory requirements to support reliable operation of the Bulk Electric System. This role supports the development, implementation, and monitoring of AES Utilities NERC compliance programs to maintain the reliability and security of the Bulk Electric System. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of NERC O&P Transmission and Balancing Authority Standards.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of NERC compliance monitoring and enforcement procedures.
- Lead development, update, and management of compliance documentation, including Reliability Standard Audit Worksheets (RSAWs) and supporting evidence.
- Coordinate organizational responses to regulatory audits, spot checks, and Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Lead O&P audits for AES utilities.
- Oversee the drafting and implementation of Self Reports and mitigation plans, as well as track progress on addressing identified noncompliance issues.
- Provide leadership and compliance oversight in planning, executing, and evaluating project objectives and timelines related to the implementation of internal controls for all applicable O&P Standards.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to proactively develop and maintain comprehensive recordkeeping systems that ensure adherence to NERC O&P requirements.
- Work closely with subject matter experts and operations teams to embed compliance within daily business processes.
- Lead the management of evidence retention and oversee periodic compliance-related tasks.
- Lead special projects for AES Utilities NERC compliance program as required.
- Train other NERC Compliance Analyst within the team.
- Engage in industry focus groups and conferences to share expertise and remain informed about trends and changes in the NERC compliance environment.
- Lead organizational responses to regulatory compliance inquiries, enforcement actions, and data reporting from a NERC O&P perspective.
- Remain current with regulatory developments and best practices within the industry.
Skills and Experience
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience required.
- 5-10 years of relevant work experience in the field.
- Demonstrated agility in managing, prioritizing, and executing multiple tasks according to business needs.
- Previous experience with NERC O&P and utility compliance, including monitoring, training, and audit support.
- Proven ability to implement and/or maintain a NERC compliance program.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong willingness to embrace new challenges.
- Exceptional attention to detail and dedication to maintaining a culture of compliance.
- Strong project management abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Familiarity with one or more risk management frameworks is advantageous.
