Pay Range

$182,310 - $231,180 Annually

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting; pay will not be below any applicable local minimum wage. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.


Job Description

We have an opening for a Senior Product Realization Team (PRT) Leader for the W87-1 Modernization Program's Nuclear Explosives Package (NEP) PRT. You will lead the PRT to mature and verify requirements and establish qualified processes with the production agency for NEP assembly and disassembly. You will manage a detailed schedule in coordination with the PRT Control Account Manager to ensure on time delivery to support the program. This position will be in Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED), within the Engineering Directorate. DTED supports the Strategic Deterrence (SD) Program.

Depending on your assignment, this position may offer a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You may have the exibility to work from home one or more days per week.

You will

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction, guidance, and support to a multidisciplinary team of engineers in accomplishing complex project engineering and management, process development, product realization, and qualificationgoals.
  • Lead, manage, and maintain effective PRT relationships in collaborations with the Production Agency (PA) executing NEP assembly and disassembly.
  • Collaborate with project leaders within Laboratory programs to establish project objectives and strategies for technical team and to anticipate and meet technical needs.
  • Lead, direct, and assign work to engineering team members by guiding and balancing workload.
  • Address complex technical problems and develop solutions, as well as obtaining ongoing performance feedback and tracking progress of group projects, milestones, and schedules to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Execute PRT objectives within schedule and budget to meet programmatic milestones and deliverables, engage to correct deciencies, and lead and advise on corrective actions where necessary.
  • Represent the PRT at meetings, briengs, and committee activities both internal and external to the Laboratory.
  • Provide, present, and explain technical updates, ensure that PRT risks and requirements are communicated in an effective and timely manner, and provide advice to program leadership, customers, and external sponsors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at the time of hire.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical eld, or equivalentcombination of education and related experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of DOE product realization and execution in partnership with Production Agencies.
  • Advanced level knowledge and skills in systems and design engineering.
  • Strong organizational skills, and advanced knowledge and experience with project management tools and techniques, including work planning, scheduling, cost estimating, analyzing, and managing budgets.
  • Advanced level problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implementeffective solutions for complex technical challenges.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment, present and explain technical information, and provide advice to management.
  • Effective facilitation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate with diverse stakeholders in a technical environment, and promote and maintain productive relationships across programs and directorates.
  • Experience working independently and demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, responding to changing priorities, ensuring timely and accurate completion of reviews and assessments, meeting deadlines, and keeping management informed.
  • Ability to travel.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Extensive experience in nuclear weapon systems engineering and design.
  • Significantexperience with NNSA production agencies.
