Overview
Omega Technical Services is seeking a highly motivated Senior Engineer - A to support ongoing operations in Aiken, SC. This position plays a vital role in advancing critical mission objectives within a highly regulated and technically demanding environment. As a trusted partner to government agencies and national laboratories, Omega Technical Services supports some of the nation's most complex and high-impact programs. Responsibilities
DUTIES:
Define scope of technical programs and develop effective and efficient solutions to challenges which
involve unique or controversial problems.
- Routinely use systems and meet all requirements with little supervisory guidance.
- Assist in teaching newer professionals and guiding their efforts.
- Incorporate conventional engineering or scientific practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning where only general objectives are stated.
- Coordinate various phases of the activity and perform development work in assigned field.
- Define specific problems based on general problem information from management and customers.
- Plan technical effort and coordinate activities with those of other divisions, departments and sections in focuses areas to solve problems.
- Ensure compliance with technical requirements of assigned work, proper utilization and training of personnel operating under one's technical guidance, and compliance with approved schedules and staffing estimates.
- Ensures appropriate technical performance of the end product developed and designed to resolve the original problem.
- Determine scheduling and staffing requirements for assigned tasks, in collaboration with management.
- Demonstrate cost and schedule consciousness through timely completion of assigned tasks and projects.
- Communicate results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues and management.
- Enhance expertise in field through participation in local technical societies.
- Demonstrate creative ability through medium of patent disclosures, problem solving, engineering reports, technical papers and articles.
Provide technical input and review of documents related to CD-3A D&R, Coatings Removal, and Temp HVAC Provide technical input and review of documents related to CD-3C Concrete Removal Provide technical input and review of CD-2/3 Coatings Generate plan and requirements documents for CD-3A and CD-3C scopes Aide in the development, presentation, and best value/LPTA technical proposal reviews for assigned scopes (CD-3A, CD-3C) Provide technical input into the disposition of government property for CD-3A D&R Write, review, and provide revisions to CD-3A scopes and inspection and testing plans Aide in the development of CD-3X packages Host or aid walkdowns of building 226-F DCRO Primary DA for Mechanical Equipment/Misc (Elevators, doors, cranes..) Education Requirements
- A Ph.D. degree in applicable science or engineering discipline and 2+ years' experience
- A MS with 5+ years' experience
- A BS with 7+ years' experience.
Qualifications
- Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening.
- Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance.
Has mastered technical field, is recognized as internal expert, has depth of knowledge to tackle any problem in field. A working knowledge of DOE, federal and state regulations, and existing engineering and quality assurance standards and procedures is required. Understanding and interpreting various electrical and mechanical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics is required. Requires a comprehensive understanding of site work control procedures, work practices, radiological control, quality assurance, configuration management, material control, and procedures for maintenance and operations-related areas. Design experience (within the last 10 years) in the nuclear or chemical process industry Previous SRS Design Authority Engineering or DOE facility experience is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Possession of an active DOE/DoD clearance within the past two (2) years is preferred.
- Previous DOE/NNSA work experience.
- Previous SRS or DOE facility experience.
- Design experience (within the last 10 years) in the nuclear or chemical process industry Previous SRS Design Authority Engineering or DOE facility experience
- 10 years DOE, DOD or NRC nuclear experience commensurate with education criteria.
- 10 years process engineering experience on nuclear projects at SRS and/or other DOE facilities.
- 10 years of experience on Pu processing and manufacturing technology.
Work Schedule
A 40 hour work week is scheduled. Client utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hour/day; five days per week), 4/10's (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80's (9 hours/day, five days on week AA and four days on week BB. Work week excludes Client holidays. Each workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager.
