The Public Safety Corporal assists in ensuring the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors. This role involves responding to incidents and supporting the implementation of safety protocols and emergency procedures. The Public Safety Corporal plays a key role in maintaining a secure environment and acts as a liaison between security staff and the Sergeant. Hours: Full Time, 40 Hours Per Week, Weekend Work Required Schedule: Saturday and Sunday 6:00AM to 6:30PM and Thursday and Friday 6:00AM to 2:30PM Location: St. Petersburg, FL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform all functions.
- Assist in the supervision of public safety officers, including scheduling, training, and daily operations.
- Provide guidance and support to security personnel, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
- Act as the shift leader in the absence of higher-ranking officers.
- Conduct regular patrols of the healthcare facility to monitor and ensure the security of all areas.
- Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, and alarms, helping as needed.
- Oversee access control measures, including checking identification and managing visitor access.
- Investigate security incidents and prepare detailed reports documenting findings and actions taken.
- Assist in the coordination of emergency response efforts, including evacuation and lockdown procedures.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare staff, patients, and visitors during incidents to provide guidance and ensure safety.
- Participate in the training of public safety officers, ensuring they are well-prepared for their duties.
- Conduct safety drills and exercises to enhance the preparedness of security staff and healthcare personnel.
- Stay informed about the latest security protocols and best practices in healthcare settings.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety and security regulations.
- Assist in preparing for and participating in regulatory inspections and audits.
- Maintain accurate records of security activities and incidents for regulatory and internal review.
- Operate and monitor security systems, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, and alarm systems.
- Report any malfunctions or issues with security equipment to the appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Assist in the implementation of new security technologies and upgrades.
- Provide a visible and approachable security presence, helping and information to patients, visitors, and staff.
- Address concerns and complaints related to security in a professional and courteous manner.
- Promote a positive image of the public safety department through effective communication and service.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Additional training or education in criminal justice, public safety, or a related field is preferred.
