Title of Position: Member Solutions Specialist

Position Type: Part-Time Plus (30 hours/week). Typical shifts include Monday through Friday 9:00AM to 3:00PM.

Compensation Range: $20.00/hr. - $25.50/hr. *Hiring rates may be dependent on a number of factors, including years of directly related work experience, education, geographic location or special skills*

Location: On-site at our Endicott, NY location.

Responsibilities/Duties:



  • Provides collection follow-up on delinquent accounts to include notices, telephone calls, and written correspondence.
  • Actively monitor the member solutions phone queue and be a subject matter expert regarding member solutions related questions and inquiries from members and internal stakeholders.
  • Input detailed collection activity notes and appropriately code accounts within core systems to aid with collection efforts.
  • Provide excellent member service while seeking to avoid charge off's, retain members, and protect the assets of the organization.
  • Adhere to applicable laws that include, but are not limited to, Fair Lending regulations, Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Federal Trade Commission laws and regulations.
  • Ensure day to day collection activities are conducted within established credit union policies and procedures.
  • Refers charged off loans to outside agencies to continue the collection of loan or account defaults and increase the recoveries of the organization.
  • Complete required reporting to include but not be limited to charge-off reports, repossession reports, negative share charge-off reports and Board reports as outlined in the department procedures.
  • Monitors and processes recovery payments received through attorneys, collection agencies, and bankruptcy trustees.
  • Counsel members in making payment arrangements acceptable to the Credit Union.
  • Complete skip tracing for members that do not have accurate contact information within the core system.
  • Prepare final demand files and refer accounts for repossession.
  • Works with repossession agencies and auctions regarding vehicles that have been repossessed and/or surrendered.
  • Collaborate with the Title Servicing Department to obtain perfected liens on collateralized loans.
  • Provides departmental back-up coverage as needed.
  • Respond effectively to changing ideas, responsibilities, expectations, trends, strategies, and other processes.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.
  • Perform other duties needed to help fulfil our mission, drive our strategy, and support our organization's values.


Minimum Qualifications & Experience:



  • High school diploma required; 1-3 years of related experience is required.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Proficient with standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, PCs, etc.

      Preferred Qualifications & Experience:



      • Collections experience preferred.
      • An associate degree preferred.
