Job Description: As a Merchandise Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the merchandise management team by assisting with various administrative and operational tasks. Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask will contribute to the efficient execution of assortment planning, vendor coordination, and inventory management. This entry-level position offers a valuable opportunity to learn about to the dynamic field of retail merchandising in preparation for future buying roles, and contribute to the success of our team.

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative Support:

  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of inventory, sales, and product information.
  • Manage and organize merchandise-related documents, ensuring they are easily accessible.
  • Coordinate scheduling and appointments for the merchandise team.

Vendor Communication:

  • Assist in vendor communication and coordination, including order placement and status updates.
  • Collaborate with vendors to gather product details, pricing, and promotional information.
  • Support vendor onboarding and documentation processes.

Data Management:

  • Input and maintain product information, pricing, and availability in merchandise systems.
  • Assist in gathering and organizing sales data, inventory reports, and customer feedback for analysis.

Assortment Planning Assistance:

  • Assist in creating assortment plans and product roadmaps based on guidance from senior team members.
  • Collaborate with the buying team to ensure accurate and timely execution of assortment strategies.

Inventory Management:

  • Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with inventory analysts to prevent stockouts and minimize overstock situations.
  • Assist in clearance and markdown processes for slow-moving products.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with merchandise planners, buyers, and analysts to support cohesive merchandise strategies.
  • Work closely with other departments such as marketing and e-commerce to ensure accurate product listings and promotions.

Reporting:

  • Assist in generating routine and ad-hoc reports related to inventory, sales, and vendor performance.
  • Compile data and contribute to presentations for merchandise team meetings.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Interest in retail merchandising and willingness to learn.
  • Team-oriented attitude and willingness to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
